R. Vidyasagar Rao
Ramaraju Vidyasagar Rao (14 November 1939 – 29 April 2017) was an Indian government administrator and a Telangana activist. He was the Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Water Resources, Central Water Commission. After the formation of Telangana State, he was appointed as the Advisor on Irrigation to the Government of Telangana. He was the foremost expert on irrigation projects in Telangana, and was instrumental in highlighting injustices in water allocation for Telangana Region in United Andhra Pradesh. The Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme was named after him as R. Vidyasagar Rao Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme for his enormous contribution to irrigation in Telangana. He fought for safe drinking water to the fluoride affected Nalgonda district and provide water to the arid lands in the Telangana region. Suryapet is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. It is a municipality and the headquarters of its eponymous district. Mission Kakatiya
Mission Kakatiya ("Our Village Our Lake") is a scheme for restoring all the minor irrigation tanks and lakes in Telangana State, India. This scheme aims to renovate 46,531 tanks and lakes, storing 265 TMC water across the state in five years. This is the first program to be taken up by the Government of Telangana after coming into power in June 2014. The tanks and lakes are dug to remove silt for increasing water storage capacity. The household agricultural income has also increased by 78.50% in the tank ayacut area. In April 2022, the Government of India launched a similar water body rejuvenation scheme called the Mission Amrit Sarovar. History The agriculture was solely depended on the tanks. Until the Nizam rule, the tanks had a capacity of 244 TMC in Telangana region, but due to negligence most of it was lost. R. Vidyasagar Rao Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme is a lift irrigation project in Nalgonda, Telangana, India. It serves Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Khammam areas. It was named after R. Vidyasagar Rao, a foremost irrigation expert in Telangana. Dindi reservoir Dindi Reservoir is a medium water reservoir across Dindi tributary of River Krishna located near Dindi, Mahabubnagar town in Telangana. It is part of Srisailam Left Bank Canal. This medium reservoir has 59 million cubic meters gross storage capacity. It is close to Amrabad Tiger Reserve, around 95 kilometers from Hyderabad. Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme
The Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project (PRLIP) is an irrigation project in the state of Telangana, India. The project aims to make 12.3 lakh acres of parched lands in erstwhile combined Mahabubnagar district into fertile lands. The project is built on the Krishna river at a cost of 35,000 crore in Nagarkurnool district. On 16 September 2023, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao operationalised the first phase of Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme at Yellur-Narlapur pump house in Nagarkurnool district. The project will change the future of six districts viz, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Vikarabad in South Telangana.
