R. L. V. Ramakrishnan
R.L.V. Ramakrishnan is an Indian classical dancer and film actor from Kerala. In 2022, Ramakrishnan won the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award in Mohiniyattam. Biography Ramakrishnan born in Chalakudy is the brother of Kalabhavan Mani. He was a ''Kalaprathibha'' from the MG University in 2001. Ramakrishnan, who studied Mohiniyattam at R.L.V. College, Trippunithura since 1996, has obtained a four-year diploma and a post-diploma from there. After that he passed his master's in Mohiniyattam from Mahatma Gandhi University with first rank. Ramakrishnan, who was the top scorer in MPhil in Performing Arts from Kerala Kalamandalam, completed his PhD from Kalamandalam itself. His doctoral thesis was ''Aattathinte Aanvazhikal'' (meaning: The path of men in dance). He has qualified NET also. Career Ramakrishnan is an A-grade artist in Doordarshan. Mohiniyattam Exponents
Mohiniyattam, ( ml, മോഹിനിയാട്ടം), is an Indian classical dance form that developed and remained popular in the state of Kerala. Kathakali is another classical dance form of Kerala. Mohiniyattam dance gets its name from the word Mohini – a historical enchantress avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu, who helps the good prevail over evil by developing her feminine powers. Mohiniyattam's roots, like all classical Indian dances, are in the ''Natya Shastra'' – the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text on performance arts. However, it follows the Lasya style described in ''Natya Shastra'', that is a dance which is delicate, eros-filled and feminine. It is traditionally a solo dance performed by women after extensive training, though nowadays men can also perform the dance.
