R. J. Palmer
Ralph Joe Palmer II (born December 25, 1970) is an American politician from the state of Kentucky. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he served in the Kentucky Senate from September 19, 2001, to January 1, 2015. Palmer was the minority leader of the Kentucky Senate from January 4, 2011, to January 1, 2015. Palmer is from Winchester, Kentucky. He was first elected to the house in 1998 when incumbent representative Drew Graham retired to run for County Judge/Executive, Judge/Executive of Clark County, Kentucky, Clark County. He served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from January 1, 1999, through September 19, 2001, and served in the Kentucky Senate from 2001 until he was defeated by challenger Ralph Alvarado and replaced in 2015. Kentucky Senate
The Kentucky Senate is the upper house of the Kentucky General Assembly. The Kentucky Senate is composed of 38 members elected from single-member districts throughout Kentucky, the Commonwealth. There are no term limits for Kentucky senators. The Kentucky Senate meets at the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky, Frankfort annually beginning in January. The Legislative Research Commission (LRC) is an agency of Kentucky state government that supports the state legislature, the Kentucky General Assembly. Duties Per the Kentucky Constitution, the General Assembly may only meet for 60 days in even numbered years and for 30 days in odd numbered years. As such, the LRC oversees all meetings of interim, statutory, and special committees which meet during the legislative interim.
