R. G. Allen
Richard G. Allen (1833 – March 4, 1886) was an American politician in California and the Idaho Territory. Allen was born in Virginia in 1833. In 1860, he was chosen to represent San Bernardino County on the California Democratic State Central Committee. He served as a member of the California State Assembly in 1863, representing the 1st State Senatorial district. He then moved to Boise County, Idaho Territory, and was elected as a Democrat to the territorial house of representatives in 1868 and 1870. He then served as county commissioner for Boise County from 1875 to 1877. Allen then lost elections for territorial council in 1878 and treasurer of Ada County in 1882. Boise County, Idaho
Boise County is a rural mountain county in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 7,610. The county seat is historic Idaho City, which is connected through a series of paved and unpaved roads to Lowman, Centerville, Placerville, Pioneerville, Star Ranch, Crouch, Garden Valley, and Horseshoe Bend. Boise County is part of the Boise, ID Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Bogus Basin ski area is in the southwestern part of the county. The county's eastern area contains the central section of the Sawtooth Wilderness, the western part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Quartzburg, Idaho
Quartzburg is an unincorporated town in Boise County, in the U.S. state of Idaho. History The discovery of gold, silver, and other valuable natural resources throughout the Idaho territory beginning in the 1860s, as well as the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869, brought many new people to the area, including Chinese laborers who came to work the mines. Where two rivers, creeks, or streams divided, prospectors would each and follow the richer one in their search for the source of the gold also known as the mother lode. A quartz vein outcropping containing gold was discovered by prospectors in 1862 which led to a series of mining claims that resulted in the formation of a mining district called territory Quartzburg aka Quartburgh. Ada County is located in the southwestern part of Idaho, United States. Placerville, Idaho
Placerville is a populated place in Boise County, Idaho, United States. The population was 53 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise City– Nampa, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Placerville received its name because of placer mining in the vicinity. The ghost town is located 17 miles east of Horseshoe Bend. The townsite was selected December 1, 1862; and by December 16 there were six cabins in the camp. By the early summer of 1863, the town had 300 buildings and a population of 5,000. At the meeting of the first legislature held in Lewiston in 1863, the citizens obtained a charter for their city. Father Mesplie, a Catholic priest, held the first church service January 4, 1864, and in that same year a stage line was established between the Basin and Wallua to carry Wells Fargo express.
