R. B. Lenora
Robolage Barnes Lenora (30 June 1906–?) was a Ceylonese physician and politician. He served as Principle of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine from 1952 to 1965. He was elected from the Borella electorate from the United National Party to the House of Representatives defeating Dr Danister de Silva in the 1960 March general elections, but was defeated by Dr Danister de Silva in the 1960 July general elections. He contested the seat again in 1964 in a by election, but was defeated by Vivienne Goonewardena. Senate Of Ceylon
The Senate was the upper chamber of the Parliament of Ceylon, parliament of Dominion of Ceylon, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) established in 1947 by the Soulbury Commission. The Senate was appointed and indirectly elected rather than directly elected. It was housed in the old Legislative Council of Ceylon, Legislative Council building in Fort (Colombo), Colombo Fort and met for the first time on 12 November 1947. The Senate was abolished on 2 October 1971 by the eighth amendment to the Soulbury Constitution, prior to the adoption of the new Republican Constitution of Sri Lanka on 22 May 1972. In 2010 there were proposals to reintroduce the Senate. The Ceylon College of Physicians (CCP) is a professional organisation for specialists in medicine in Sri Lanka. It is a non-profit organisation, and members contribute towards its activities voluntarily. Its specialities currently include cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology and rehabilitation medicine. The college currently consists of over 700 members. Mission statement The CCP states that it is an academic body 'established for the purpose of enhancing the knowledge of Medicine, promoting postgraduate education in Medicine', and 'ensuring that the highest quality of medical care is delivered to the patients by educating future physicians of the country'. Vivienne Goonewardena
Violet Vivienne Goonewardene (, ; 18 September 19163 October 1996), commonly known as "Vivi", was a Sri Lankan Anti-imperialism, anti-colonial activist and prominent politician, serving as one of the world's first female ministers. A key figure in both the Indian independence movement and the Sri Lankan independence movement, Goonewardene was a prominent member on the non-aligned stage, where she fought against perceived injustices and was critical of the Middle East diplomacy sponsored by the United States. Goonewardene was the first and, to date, only female National Heroes of Sri Lanka, National Hero of Sri Lanka. By her death, she was one of the Left's most vibrant personalities, and the foremost female figure in the Sri Lankan leftist movement. Founded as the ''College of Indigenous Medicine'' in 1929, it became part of the University of Colombo adopting its current name in 1977.
