Royal Cercle Sportif Brainois commonly known as RCS Brainois or simply Braine is a Wallonian Belgian football club from Braine-l'Alleud, Brabant. Founded in 1913, club is assigned matricule nr.75 and is one the oldest continuously existing clubs in the country. The team set to play in Belgian Division 2 from 2025–26, the fourth tier of Belgian football after promotion from Belgian Division 3 in 2024–25. History The club was founded in 1913 by 11 founding members. under the name Cercle Sportif Branois. In 1926, when the matricule system was established, club was assigned matricule nr.75, which it has kept to this day. Throughout its history, the club has spent 32 seasons at national level, of which 12 were in the third tier. Between 1946 and 1969 the club was continuously in the lower national league, however since they have been oscillating between the provincial leagues and national amateur tiers. The Belgian Cup 2005-06 was the 51st staging of the Belgian Cup which is the main knock-out football competition in Belgium. It was won by S.V. Zulte-Waregem. After the first 5 rounds teams from the Belgian First Division entered the competition on November 10, 2005. The sixth round ended on December 6, 2005 and saw the surprise defeat of Anderlecht to second division side Geel after penalty shootout. The seventh round was held on December 21, 2005. From the quarter-finals on matches were played in two legs. The first team to host is indicated first in the following chart. The final game was played at the King Baudouin Stadium on May 13, 2006. Belgian Cup
The Belgian Cup (; ; ) is the main knockout football competition in Belgium, run by the Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup". Starting from 1912 only actual clubs were allowed to partake. As of 1964, the Belgian Cup has been organised annually. Since the 2015–16 edition, the Belgian Cup is called the Croky Cup, for sponsorship purposes. The final traditionally takes place at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels. The most successful cup club is Club Brugge with 12 Belgian Cups in their possession. The current champions are Club Brugge, having beaten rivals Anderlecht 2–1 in the 2025 final. Belgian Fourth Division
The Belgian Fourth Division was the lowest nationwide division in Belgian football. The division was split into four separate leagues, A, B, C and D. The team with the most points in the four leagues together was declared the overall winner. If several league winners had the same number of points, the one with the most wins was declared champion, or if that was still tied, then the one with the best goal average was declared champion. Finally, if two teams were still equal, a single match was played on a neutral ground to determine the team to be added to the palmares. For 2016–17 the Belgian Fourth Division was replaced by the Belgian Third Amateur Division. Belgian Provincial Leagues
The Belgian Provincial leagues are the lower leagues for Belgian football. Until 2016, these were at levels 5-8 in the Belgian football league system however as part of the reform an extra level was created causing the provincial leagues to drop to levels 6-9. The provincial leagues are divided into 9 regional league systems (one for each province, but Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant are merged and contain also the football teams from the Brussels Capital Region). Each league system is itself divided into 4 levels (except for Luxembourg where there are only 3). The number of leagues at each level depends on the province, but every province must have only one league at the top level.
