Qvale
Qvale ( ) was an independent car manufacturer founded in 2000 by Bruce Qvale, the son of businessman Kjell Qvale. Based in Modena, Italy, Qvale's sole product was the Mangusta, originally the De Tomaso Biguà. Kjell Qvale founded British Motors in 1947 in San Francisco, California and was a well known importer of European luxury cars. He was the first distributor for Jaguar on the U.S. West Coast and one of the founders of the San Francisco Auto Show. Alejandro de Tomaso, an Italian car manufacturer with Argentina, Argentine roots, had chosen the Biguà to revive his brand. The car was designed by Marcello Gandini, a designer for Lamborghini and Maserati. The Biguà was shown for the first time in 1996, in Geneva. Financial troubles forced De Tomaso to look for a business partner whom he found in the American Bruce Qvale, an importer and distributor of a number of exclusive cars in the United States. Kjell Qvale

) was a Norwegian-American business executive. Qvale was one of the key figures in the creation of the Jensen-Healey. Qvale became the first distributor for Jaguar Cars, Jaguar on the West Coast of the United States, West Coast. Qvale was one of the founders of the San Francisco Auto Show and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. He was credited with the concept of the Corkscrew signature corner of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Laguna Seca.


Early life

Kjell Qvale was born in Trondheim, Trondhjem, Norway, and was the son of a Norwegian sea captain. He moved to the United States in 1929.

Qvale Mangusta
The Qvale Mangusta is a sports car produced in limited numbers by the Italian automaker Qvale between 1999 and 2002. During development and very early production, it was developed from the De Tomaso Biguá concept car shown to the general public at the 1996 Geneva Motor Show. When the car started production, it was renamed De Tomaso Mangusta (named after the De Tomaso Mangusta, car originally built between 1967 and 1971) before De Tomaso became disassociated from the project and all subsequent cars received Qvale badging. The Mangusta uses a front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and was penned by Italian automotive designer Marcello Gandini. De Tomaso Automobili Ltd. (previously known as De Tomaso Modena SpA) is an Italian car-manufacturing company. It was founded in 1959 by Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena. It originally produced various sports prototypes and auto racing vehicles, including a Formula One car for Frank Williams Racing Cars in 1970. Most of the funding for the automaker came from Amory Haskell Jr. In 1971, Ford Motor Company acquired an 84 percent stake in De Tomaso with Alejandro de Tomaso himself holding the balance. MG Rover Group
MG Rover Group was a British carmaker that existed between 2000 and 2005. It was the last domestically owned mass-production car manufacturer in the British motor industry.
