Quinton, Birmingham
Quinton is a suburb and Wards and electoral divisions of the United Kingdom, ward of Birmingham, in the county of the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England, west of the city centre. Formerly part of Halesowen parish, Quinton became part of Birmingham in 1909. Quinton was a village and the surrounding area was farmland until the 1930s when the first housing estates were developed. Most of the farmland had been built on by 1980 but some countryside remains in the form of Woodgate Valley Country Park. Middle Quinton is the name given by the developers St. Modwen Properties and The Bird Group to a proposed new eco-town near Long Marston in Warwickshire, England. On 3 April 2008 the UK government announced the proposal had been shortlisted along with 14 other locations. 10 proposals are expected to be built by 2020. Eco-town proposal The proposed eco-town would be six miles south-west of Stratford-upon-Avon. The majority of the 240ha site is the former Long Marston Royal Engineers depot which is now owned by St Modwen. The remainder is land owned by the Bird Group which is currently used as a business park. Quinton House School
Quinton House School is a co-educational private school for children aged 2 to 18 years located in Upton, Northampton, England. The school is owned and operated by the Cognita Group. History Quinton House School is situated in the Grade I listed building, Upton Hall. The hall dates back to the medieval period with many alterations taking place in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. In 1946 the last private owner, Mr. James, died and the estate passed into the ownership of the Sir Thomas White's trust. A lease was taken out on the buildings by three ladies surnamed 'Teape' who opened Upton Hall School in 1946.
