Quentin L. Kopp
Quentin Lewis Kopp (born August 11, 1928) is an American attorney and politician. He served as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and in the California State Senate. Kopp ran unsuccessfully for mayor of San Francisco in 1979 against Dianne Feinstein. Kopp advocated for the extension of BART to SFO which was completed in 2003. Early life and education Kopp was born in 1928 in Syracuse, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1949 and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1952. Career After graduating from law school, Kopp joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at the McClellan Air Force Base during the Korean War. Caltrain (reporting mark JPBX) is a commuter rail line in California, serving the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Clara Valley (Silicon Valley). Michael D. Nevin (born 1943 – December 1, 2012) was a Democratic politician from the U.S. state of California. Background He was the son of Ed Nevin Jr., a San Francisco born Irish Catholic and his wife, Mazie McDermott. He was part of a family that had three boys and four girls. Louis John Papan (August 2, 1928 – April 28, 2007) was a Democratic California politician. He was known as the "Dean of the Assembly" for his 20 years in the California State Assembly. Early life The son of Greek immigrants from Peloponnesus, he was originally to be named Elias Papandricopoulos ( ''Ilías Papandrikópoulos''), but the doctor did not know how to spell the name, and thus he was named Louis Papan. Lou Papan spoke only Greek when he began elementary school. Papan was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Dead Kennedys are an American punk rock band that formed in San Francisco, California, in 1978. The band was one of the defining punk bands during its initial eight-year run. Initially consisting of lead guitarist East Bay Ray, bassist Klaus Flouride, lead vocalist Jello Biafra, drummer Bruce Slesinger, Ted and rhythm guitarist Carlo Cadona, 6025, 6025 left in 1979, and Ted left the following year after the band recorded their acclaimed first album ''Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables'' (1980). Eric Reed Boucher (born June 17, 1958), known professionally as Jello Biafra, is an American singer, spoken word artist and political activist. He is the former lead singer and songwriter for the San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Initially active from 1979 to 1986, Dead Kennedys were known for rapid-fire music topped with Biafra's sardonic lyrics and biting social commentary, delivered in his "unique quiver of a voice". When the band broke up in 1986, he took over the influential independent record label Alternative Tentacles, which he had founded in 1979 with Dead Kennedys bandmate East Bay Ray. West Portal is a small neighborhood located on the West Side of San Francisco, California. West Portal is a primarily residential area of the city. The Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor (WCNYH) was a regulatory agency in the Port of New York and New Jersey in the northeast of the United States. The bi-state agency was founded in 1953 by a Congressionally authorized compact between New York and New Jersey "for the purpose of eliminating various evils on the waterfront in the Port of New York Harbor." Under statutory mandate, the mission of the commission was to investigate, deter, combat and remedy criminal activity and influence in the port district and also ensures fair hiring and employment practices.
