Queen Didda
Didda (1003 CE), also known as ''The Catherine of Kashmir'', was the last ruler of Yashaskara Dynasty who ruled Kashmir from 980 CE to 1003 CE. She first acted as regent for her son and various grandsons from 958 CE to 980 CE, and from 980 CE as sole ruler and monarch. Most knowledge relating to her is obtained from the ''Rajatarangini'', a work written by Kalhana in the twelfth century. Life Didda was a daughter of Simharāja, the King of Lohara, and a granddaughter on her maternal side of Bhimadeva Shahi, one of the Hindu Shahi of Kabul. Lohara lay in the Pir Panjal range of mountains, on a trade route between western Punjab and Kashmir. At the age of 26, she married the King of Kashmir, Ksemagupta, thus uniting the Kingdom of Lohara with that of her husband. Even prior to becoming regent, Didda had considerable influence in state affairs, and coins have been found which appear to show both her name and that of Ksemagupta. Samgrāmarāja
Sangramaraja or Samgramaraja (IAST: ) was the founder of the Lohara dynasty and ruled Kashmir from 1003 to 1028. During his reign, Mahmud of Ghazni tried to invade Kashmir twice but had to retreat both times after suffering heavy casualties. Rule Sangramaraja was adopted by his aunt Didda and appointed as her heir and become the ruler in 1003. His rule lasted till 1028.Stein (1900), Vol. 2, p. 294. Sangramaraja's queen was Srilekhā, who was very talented and advised Sangramaraja in his rule and when Mahmud of Ghazni attempted to invade Kashmir. Battles against Mahmud of Ghazni In 1014, Mahmud of Ghazni attacked the Kabul Shahi kingdom. The Kabul Shahi ruler Trilochanapala appealed to Sangramaraja for assistance against Mahmud. Catherine II. (born Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst; 2 May 172917 November 1796), most commonly known as Catherine the Great, was the reigning empress of Russia from 1762 to 1796.
