Queen's Park Harriers
Queen's Park Harriers are a track and cross country running club based in Willesden Green in London, United Kingdom with a current focus on long distance running competitions. Having been founded in 1887 the club has been in continual existence for over 100 years. The club are one of nine London clubs that compete in the annual Summer League, an event that takes place across several London parks over the course of the summer months as well as several cross country championships in North London and Middlesex. It also organises the annual Liddiard Trophy Cross Country event. History The roots of Queen's Park Harriers can be traced back to a group of students from St. Judes Institute, Queen's Park who formed a sports club including both athletics and football in 1884. Eddie Toms (athlete)
Edward James Toms (11 December 1899 – 2 January 1971) was a Great Britain, British Athletics (sport), athlete who competed mainly in the 1924 Summer Olympics. Toms competed for Great Britain in the 1924 Summer Olympics held in Paris, France in the 4 x 400 metre relay where he won the bronze medal with his teammates George Renwick (athlete), George Renwick, Richard Ripley and Guy Butler (athlete), Guy Butler. Peter Arthur Tancred (born 20 October 1949) is a male former athlete, and professional strongman from England. He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Athletics career Tancred was born on 20 October 1949 in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan, the younger brother of Bill Tancred. In Britain he became affiliated to Queens Park Harriers in London. At the 1976 Olympics Games in Montreal, he represented Great Britain in the discus throw competition. Alan Lerwill
Alan Leslie Lerwill (15 November 1946 – 6 February 2021) was a male British international long jumper who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics and in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Biography At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, Lerwill represented Great Britain in the long jump event. Lerwill finished second behind Lynn Davies in the long jump event at the 1969 AAA Championships before he became the British long jump champion after winning the British AAA Championships title at the 1970 AAA Championships. Shortly afterwards he represented England at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland and won a bronze medal in the long jump. He also competed in the triple jump at the games. Mike Lindsay
Michael Robert Lindsay (2 November 1938 – 11 December 2019) was a British track and field athlete who competed in the discus throw and shot put disciplines. He represented Great Britain at the 1960 Summer Olympics and in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Biography Lindsay attended St Marylebone Grammar School. Lindsay became the British discus throw champion after winning the British AAA Championships title at the 1957 AAA Championships and the following year represented Scotland at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff. Lindsay regained the AAA discus title in 1959 and retained it in 1960 and shortly afterwards at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he represented Great Britain in both the shot put and discus throw events.
