Quebec Route 204
Route 204 is a finite two-lane east–west highway on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec. It is one of the longest secondary highways in the province. Its eastern terminus is in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec, Saint-Jean-Port-Joli at the junction of Route 132 (Quebec), Route 132 and the western terminus is in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, Lac-Mégantic at the junction of Route 161 (Quebec), Route 161. Saint-Damase-de-L'Islet () is a municipality in Quebec, Canada, with a population of about 600 people nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. It is located about southeast of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. It is named after the Pope Damasus I and Damase Ouellet (1826–1908), which is known as the pioneer of the town. Tourville () is a municipality in the L'Islet RCM in Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. History The parish of Saint-Clément-de-Tourville, which served as a mission from 1913-1919, was officially founded in 1919 by an abbot named Bernard-Édouard Martin. The citizens wished to name it Martinville in his honour, but since there was another post office that had been established under this name, they opted for Tourville, which also honours Saint Martin of Tours. A road to the village (today known as Route 204), was constructed between 1854 and 1859. At that time, the village had already been taking advantage of the abundant wood, particularly pine. In 1856, a farmer from Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies settled near Black Lake and lowered its water level by digging an outlet in hopes of making a pasture. Saint-Fabien-de-Panet () is a parish municipality in Quebec, Canada. History In 1868, the geographic township of Panet was proclaimed, named after Bernard-Claude Panet, twelfth bishop of Quebec. To encourage colonization of the township, the government's Colonization Society No. 1 begun clearing lots in the 1870s, but did not immediately attract settlers. Settlement began at the end of the 19th century by people coming from Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice-de-Buckland. By 1895, the first school was opened. In 1901, the Mission of Saint-Théodore was founded, named in honour of Joseph-Théodore Mercier, then parish priest of Saint-Magloire. In 1904, the chapel was built and the parish was renamed to Saint-Fabien-de-Panet, in honour of Joseph-Fabien Dumais, who was parish priest of Saint-Magloire from 1901 to 1906.
