Quaestor (European Parliament)
In the European Parliament, the quaestors are elected to oversee administrative and financial matters directly affecting Member of the European Parliament, members (MEPs) as well as other duties assigned to them by the Parliament's Rules of Procedure or the Bureau of the European Parliament. Five quaestors are elected among the MEPs for two and a half year-terms, i.e. half a parliamentary term. Election Quaestors are elected after the President of the European Parliament, President and Vice-President of the European Parliament, Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament. Rule 18 of the Rules of Procedure dictates that quaestors are elected by the same procedure as the Vice-Presidents, meaning that one or more single ballots are held until all five seats have been filled via either absolute majority (first two ballots) or relative majority (3rd ballot). European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) is one of the two legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. The Parliament is composed of 720 members (MEPs), after the June 2024 European elections, from a previous 705 MEPs. It represents the second-largest democratic electorate in the world (after the Parliament of India), with an electorate of around 375 million eligible voters in 2024. The European Conservatives and Reformists Group (ECR Group or simply ECR) is a Euroscepticism#Soft Euroscepticism, soft Eurosceptic, anti-European Federation, federalist political group of the European Parliament. Law and Justice ( , PiS) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Poland. The party is a member of European Conservatives and Reformists Group. Its chairman has been Jarosław Kaczyński since 18 January 2003. It was founded in 2001 by Jarosław and Lech Kaczyński as a direct successor of the Centre Agreement after it split from the Solidarity Electoral Action (AWS). Karol Adam Karski (born 13 May 1966) is a Polish politician, Quaestor of the European Parliament, and a former Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs. Gilles Boyer (born 4 July 1971) is a French politician of the Horizons party. He has served as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019 and was re-elected in 2024. Early life and education Born to two university professors, Boyer spent his childhood in Sèvres and in Ville-d'Avray in the Hauts-de-Seine region. He obtained a master's degree in law from Paris Nanterre University and a postgraduate degree in public law in 1993 from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. David Casa (born 16 November 1968 in Valletta) is a Maltese politician and Member of the European Parliament. He is Malta's longest serving MEP, having served since June 2004.
