Qemoran Toptani
Qemoran Toptani (1912-1981) was an Albanian surgeon. She is often referred to as the first female Albanian surgeon. Biography Qemoran Fuat Toptani was born in Tirana in 1912. She was a member of the Toptani family, a noble family that remained one of the largest landowners in Albania until the end of World War II. She was the niece of Fuad Toptani. Qemoran Toptani attended primary school in Tirana, then secondary school in Vienna. She completed her post-secondary education in Rome. During the final years of the Second World War, Toptani returned to Tirana, where she worked as a doctor treated the wounded. She later worked at the Peshkopia Hospital in Peshkopi Peshkopi (; sq-definite, Peshkopia) is a town located in the mountainous regions of northeastern Albania, in Dibër County. Tirana

Toptani Family
The Toptani were a leading Albanian nobility, noble family in central Ottoman Albania, Albania at the beginning of the 20th century. They belonged to a small number of noble families appointed by the Ottomans who used local chieftains to control Ottoman Albania more easily. Essad Pasha Toptani, a family patriarch, claimed that the family descended from the Thopia family. According to some sources, the name is derived from the word ''wikt:طوپ#Ottoman_Turkish , top,'' which means cannon, as the family owned a cannon at a time when artillery was rare.
