Qatari Emir
The Emir of the State of Qatar () is the monarch and head of state of the country. The emir is also the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and guarantor of the Constitution. The emir holds the most powerful position in the country, and has a prominent role in foreign relations. The emirs are members of the House of Al Thani, whose origins are in the Banu Tamim, one of the largest tribes in the Arabian Peninsula. Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (; born 3 June 1980) is Emir of Qatar, reigning since 2013. Tamim is the fourth son of former emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, born to his second spouse, Moza bint Nasser, Moza bint Nassir. He became heir apparent in 2003 when his older brother Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani (born 1978), Jassim renounced his claim to the throne. Abdullah Bin Jassim Al Thani
Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani (), also known as Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani or Sheikh Abdullah bin Qassim Al Thani, was the Emir of Qatar from 1913 to 1949. 1972 Qatari Coup D'état
The 1972 Qatari coup d'état was a bloodless palace coup that took place in Qatar on 22 February 1972. The coup was carried out by the heir apparent and prime minister Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, who took control of the country while his cousin, Emir Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani, was on a visit to Iran. While many Western news outlets referred to the event as a coup, the Qatari population merely considered it to be a succession of power. Aftermath The initial activity of the new Emir was the process of the reorganization of the government. The process saw a dramatic shift in the hierarchy of authority. Khalifa bin Hamad immensely reduced the traditional powers afforded to the heir apparent while projecting all of the power onto himself. Ahmad bin Ali bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani (; 1922 – 25 November 1977) was the Emir of Qatar who ruled from 1960 to 1972. Thani bin Mohammed () also known as Thani bin Mohammed Al Thamir (), was the Hakim of the Qatari Peninsula. Early life He was born in Zubarah and emerged as a successful pearl trader. In 1748 the Al Thani family moved from Fuwayrit to Doha, the capital city of Qatar. He died in 1825. Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country in West Asia.
