The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public research university located in the city of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. It has two major campuses, a modern city campus in Gardens Point and a historical campus in Kelvin Grove. The university offers courses in fields including architecture, engineering, information technology, healthcare, teaching, law, arts and design, science and mathematics. QUT operated as the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT'')'' established in 1965 receiving university status by act of Parliament of Queensland in 1988. Queensland's first Government House is located at Gardens Point in the grounds of the Queensland University of Technology at the end of George Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Kelvin Grove Teachers College
Kelvin Grove Teachers' College was established in 1961 to provide courses in primary and secondary teacher education from its predecessor the Queensland Teachers' Training College. History The Brisbane School of Arts was formed in 1849 and it was not until the 1880s that it took an interest in formal education. The Queensland Teachers' Training College was established in 1914 with 25 enrolments. In 1918 Jeanette Anne Gilbert joined the staff and unusually she was allowed a year's leave to obtain a Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne. In 1923 the college moved to the "old" Trades Hall on the corner of Edward and Turbot Streets in Brisbane, where it remained until January 1942. Brisbane Central Technical College is a heritage-listed technical college at 2 George Street, Brisbane, George Street, Brisbane City, Queensland, Brisbane City, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1911 to 1956. It became the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT) in 1965, and then in 1987 that became the Queensland University of Technology (QUT 1987 to present). Brisbane School of Arts is a heritage-listed mechanics' institutes, school of arts at 166 Ann Street, Brisbane, Ann Street, Brisbane City, Queensland, Brisbane City, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1865 to 1985. It is also known as former Servants Home. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History This building was erected in 1865–1866.
