Q-Productions, Inc. is a Latin music entertainment company owned and operated by Abraham Quintanilla. Founded in 1990, Q-Productions is a record company and studio (Q-Zone Records and Q-Zone Studios) specializing in the Latin music industry. The company's most recognized contributing artists are Selena (who was the daughter of Abraham), Los Tres Reyes and Jennifer Peña. Q also experiments with film and video. The company's headquarters are at 5410 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Recording studios Q-Productions has three studios, Zebra Room, Leopard Lounge and Grey Fox Room. Selena Quintanilla Pérez (; April 16, 1971 – March 31, 1995), known mononymously as Selena, was an American Tejano singer. Called the " Queen of Tejano music", her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. Abraham Quintanilla
Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr. (born February 20, 1939)Patoski page 2 is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. He is the father of Tejano singer Selena and was her manager throughout her life. Quintanilla was born to a Mexican-American family in Corpus Christi, Texas. He began his music career as a member of the singing group the "Dinos" in 1956. He left the group in the late 1960s and initially retired from music to raise a family. After discovering Selena's singing talent, he created the band Selena y Los Dinos composed of Selena and her two older siblings to develop her talent. Under his management, the group became a major success in Tejano music by the late 1980s, allowing Selena to begin a solo career and become one of the most celebrated Latin music artists of all time. Jennifer Marcella Peña (born September 17, 1983) is an American Tejano/Latin pop singer who has sold over 3.5 million records internationally. Peña was born in San Antonio, Texas, and is the third and youngest daughter of Jaime and Mary Peña with other sisters Janet and Jackie. Peña is of Mexican descent native to the state of Texas, raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Los Tres Reyes
Los Tres Reyes is a music group initially linked to the trío romántico style, comparable to Los Panchos, before expanding to perform varied Latin American music. Gilberto and Raúl Puente, twins, were founders of the group in 1957 and remain in it. Gilberto plays the requinto very well and is able to imitate the Los Panchos style easily. Gilberto is considered one of the best requinto players of Mexico. The group continued into the 1970s, but took a fifteen-year hiatus before re-forming in 1991. During the hiatus Gilberto Puente was an accompanist to Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. Since the re-forming the group has recorded for the Smithsonian Institution.
