Pölchow
Pölchow is a municipality in the Rostock district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The commune is administered by the Amt Warnow-West, which is located in the municipality of Kritzmow. The districts ''Huckstorf'' and ''Wahrstorf'' belong to Pölchow. The proximity to Rostock and the good traffic connection (Baltic Sea motorway A 20) let the municipality grow strongly in the last years. In addition to the numerous homes that have been built, a number of commercial enterprises have also settled in the town. Geography The municipality of ''Pölchow'' is about ten kilometres south of the Rostock city centre. Rostock () is a Districts of Germany, district in the north of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the district Nordwestmecklenburg, the Baltic Sea, the district-free city Rostock and the districts Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburgische Seenplatte (district), Mecklenburgische Seenplatte and Ludwigslust-Parchim. The district seat is the town Güstrow. History Rostock District was established by merging the former districts of Bad Doberan (district), Bad Doberan and Güstrow (district), Güstrow as part of the local government reform of September 2011. Bundesautobahn 20
is an autobahn in Germany. The western part was initially planned as Bundesautobahn 22. It is colloquially known as Ostseeautobahn ("Baltic Freeway") or Küstenautobahn ("Coastal Freeway") due to its geographic location near the Baltic Sea coastline. The road is not built along a straight line, instead it is built near important cities (Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund), to make it more beneficial for travel between these cities, and also to serve as bypass. On 25 June 2010 the land counsel of Lower Saxony decided that the A22 will be renamed to A20 to show it is a lengthening of the Ostsee- or Küstenautobahn.
