PvhN
The Party for the North (, ''PvhN'') is a regional political party in the Netherlands founded in December 2002 representing the interests of the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. The PvhN seeks a separate Parliament for these three northern provinces, and for 25% of the country's profits from natural gas to go directly to them. Elections Since 11 March 2003, the PvhN has had two seats on the Provincial Council of Groningen, and (since 6 March 2006) one seat on the municipal council of Delfzijl. In the provincial elections of 7 March 2007, the party remained stable, getting 3.6% of the vote, but was reduced from two seats to one seat in Groningen due to the reduction of the total number of seats in each provincial council. In Friesland and Drenthe, where the party contested for the first time in the 2007 elections; it won no seats that year. Groningen ( , ; ; ; ) is the northeasternmost provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands. It borders on Friesland to the west, Drenthe to the south, the Germany, German state of Lower Saxony to the east, and the Wadden Sea to the north. 2023 Dutch Provincial Elections
Provincial elections were held in the Netherlands on 15 March 2023, on the same day as the water board elections, as well as island council elections in the Caribbean Netherlands. The elections resulted in sweeping victory for the Farmer–Citizen Movement (BBB), which had been formed three years earlier; it won the national popular vote, and alone won the most seats in nine of the twelve provinces. (It tied for most seats with the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy in North Holland and in South Holland, and with GroenLinks in Utrecht.) This is the first time in Dutch history that a political party won the popular vote in all twelve provinces. Regionalism is a political ideology that seeks to increase the political power, influence and self-determination of the people of one or more subnational regions. The Independent Politics Netherlands (, OPNL), formerly known as the Independent Senate Group (, OSF), is a federation of local and regional political parties in the Netherlands that competes in elections to the Dutch Senate. Emmen () is a List of municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and town of the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands. History A planned city, Emmen arose from several small farming and peat-harvesting communities which have dotted the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Drenthe since the Middle Ages. 2006 Dutch Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in the Netherlands on 7 March 2006. About 11.8 million people could vote in 419 municipalities. Due to municipal reorganisations, 15 municipalities held elections in January 2006 and 24 municipalities held elections in November 2006. In some cities, such as Amsterdam, there were two elections, for the municipality and for the borough councils. Results Official results were announced on 9 March 2006. The Labour Party (PvdA) obtained the most votes and seats, more than recovering from the losses of the 2002 elections. The Socialist Party (SP) almost doubled in size, partly due to its participation in more municipalities than in 2002. The Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the Democrats 66 (D66) all had noticeable losses, which may in part have been caused by dissatisfaction with the national government, of which they are the coalition partners.
