Putrabadhu
''Putrabadhu'' () is a 1998 Bengali film directed by Pallab Ghosh and produced under the banner of Damini Pictures Pvt. Ltd. The film is a remake of National Award winning 1986 Tamil film ''Samsaram Adhu Minsaram'' by Visu. The film presents the conflict of ego in a father and his descendants. At the same time, it depicts the contemporary conjugal tension of Indian society. Soumitra Chatterjee stars as Haranath Mukherjee, a tenacious father who tells his eldest son to separate when the latter reminds Haranath of his contribution in the family. Tapas Paul and Satabdi Roy star as the brother and sister, Somnath and Monika at odds with the character played by Chatterjee. It also stars Abhishek Chatterjee, Debashree Roy, Santu Mukherjee, Arun Banerjee, Shankar Chakraborty, Mitali Chakraborty and Bela Sarkar. Satabdi Roy
Satabdi Roy ()(born 5 October 1969) is an Indian actress, film director and politician. As an actress she is known for her work in Bengali cinema. She is the recipient of BFJA Awards for two times. As an actress, she ruled the array of commercial Bengali cinema during the late 1980s and 1990s. As a director, she has been denounced critically for her use of superfluous themes. Santu Mukherjee
Santu Mukhopadhyay (14 January 1951 – 11 March 2020) was an Indian actor who worked in Bengali cinema. He was the father of actress Swastika Mukherjee. His younger brother, Sumanta Mukherjee, is also an actor. Early life and biography Santu Mukherjee was born on 17 January 1951 in Kolkata. He attended the Mitra Institution at Bhowanipore at a primary level and later, joined the Padmapukur Institution at Sarat Bose Road, from where he passed his Higher Secondary Examination. He soon dropped out from studies and took dance lessons from Gopal Bhattacharya. He also learned Rabindra Sangeet. He went to renowned director Tapan Sinha, seeking a role in Bengali films. Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Viswanathan (1 July 1945 – 22 March 2020), best known by his stage name Visu, was an Indian writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk-show host. Visu initially worked as an assistant to director K. Balachander until becoming a director himself. He later began acting, with his first film being ''Kudumbam Oru Kadambam'' (1981), directed by S. ''Samsaram Adhu Minsaram'' () is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language drama film produced by AVM Productions, and written and directed by Visu. He also stars as part of an ensemble cast including Lakshmi, Chandrasekhar, Kishmu, Raghuvaran, Delhi Ganesh, Ilavarasi, Manorama, Madhuri, Kamala Kamesh, Dilip and Haja Sheriff. The film revolves around the splintering of a joint family, and the efforts made by the patriarch's eldest daughter-in-law to reunite them. The story of ''Samsaram Adhu Minsaram'' was inspired by Visu's play ''Uravukku Kai Koduppom'', which had already been adapted into a 1975 film. Despite the failure of that film, producer M.
