Ferenc Puskás (, ; né Purczeld; 1 April 1927 – 17 November 2006) was a Hungarian footballer and manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and the sport's first international superstar. A forward and an attacking midfielder, he scored 84 goals in 85 international matches for Hungary national football team, Hungary and later played four international matches for Spain men's national football team, Spain as well. He became an Olympic champion in 1952 and led his nation to the final of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, 1954 World Cup. The FIFA Puskás Award is an award established on 20 October 2009 by the ''Fédération Internationale de Football Association'' (FIFA), at the behest of then-president Sepp Blatter, to be awarded to the player judged to have scored the most aesthetically significant, or "most beautiful", goal of the calendar year. The Puskás Award is announced yearly and is considered by voting. From 2024, only male players are eligible to win, with the FIFA Marta Award established for female players instead. The award is in honour of Ferenc Puskás, the striker of Real Madrid during the late 1950s to the late 1960s, and central member of the highly successful Hungarian side of the same era. Ferenc Puskás Stadium (1953)
The Ferenc Puskás Stadium (), or formerly People's Stadium (''Népstadion''), was a multi-purpose stadium in the Zugló, 14th district (Zugló) of Budapest, Hungary. It was situated between the Puskás Ferenc Stadion metro station, Puskás Ferenc Stadion and the Keleti pályaudvar metro station, Keleti pályaudvar metro stations. It was used mainly for association football, football matches. The stadium, which was an all-seater, in the 2000s had a safe capacity of 38,652, though its original capacity exceeded 100,000. The stadium was closed in 2016 and demolished in 2017 to give place to the Puskás Aréna. Puskás Akadémia Football Club is a professional football club based in Felcsút, Hungary, that competes in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the top flight of Hungarian football. Puskás Cup or Puskás-Suzuki Kupa is an international football tournament founded by the Ferenc Puskás Football Academy in Felcsút, Hungary and the Magyar Suzuki Corporation in 2008. The aim of the founders is to establish a club tournament which offers the opportunity for talented young footballers to measure themselves internationally at the U-17 age level and to establish a fitting memorial to Ferenc Puskás. History In 2008 Puskás Cup, 2008 four teams competed for the first ever Puskás Cup trophy which was finally won by La Fábrica (Real Madrid), La Fabrica, the youth team of Ferenc Puskás's former club Real Madrid C.F.
