Punta Delgada Lighthouse
Punta Delgada or Alegranza Lighthouse () is an active 19th century lighthouse on the Spanish island of Alegranza in the Canary islands. Alegranza lies to the north of the larger island of Lanzarote, it is part of the Chinijo Archipelago within the Teguise municipality. History Punta Delgada was one of the first lighthouses to be completed as part of the original maritime lighting plan for the Canaries. Designed by the engineer Juan de León y Castillo, building began in 1861 and it became operational in 1865. Built in a neo-classical style similar to other Canarian 19th century lighthouses, it consists of a whitewashed single storey building with dark volcanic rock used for the masonry detailing, located on a headland at the eastern end of Alegranza The light is displayed from a lantern room at the top of a masonry tower, attached to the seaward side of the main building. Alegranza
Alegranza () is an uninhabited island in the Atlantic Ocean, located off the coast of Africa and is in the province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is the northernmost point in the Canary Islands, and part of the Chinijo Archipelago. The island is part of the municipality of Teguise on Lanzarote. Geographical overview The area is 10.2 km². The island features a volcano with a crater of about 1.1 km in diameter and an altitude of 289 m. The second highest is Montaña de Lobos at 256 m and following La Rapagura. Punta Delgada, Chile
Punta Delgada is a small town in the far south of Chile, close to the border with Argentina, on the RN255 between Punta Arenas and Rio Gallegos. It is the principal settlement in the San Gregorio commune in Magallanes Province. Since 1921, there has been a Military Station in the town holding a full Infantry Battalion of the Chilean Army plus a small boat flotilla of the Chilean Navy along with Chilean Navy Signals/Communications HQ, as well as a Navy SIGINT and naval intelligence forward base. Nearby is a ferry terminal at the Primera Angostura, from where the '' Pionero'' crosses the Strait of Magellan to Tierra del Fuego. Pali-Aike National Park lies 18 km north of the town. Punta Delgada, Argentina
Punta Delgada is a locality and tourist resort on the Valdes Peninsula in Biedma Department in the north of the province of Chubut, Argentina. It is situated on the Golfo Nuevo. The main attractions are a colony of elephant seals and an active lighthouse built in 1905. The buildings around the lighthouse have been converted into a hotel and restaurant, to accommodate visitors to the area. The cast-iron lighthouse tower contains a Fresnel lens, which emits a pattern of three white flashes every twenty-five seconds.
