Punta Brava Lighthouse
Punta Brava Lighthouse (Faro de Punta Brava), also known as Punta Carretas Lighthouse, is a lighthouse in Punta Carretas, Montevideo, Uruguay. It was erected in 1876. The lighthouse has a height of 21 metres and its light reaches away, with a flash every ten seconds. In 1962, the lighthouse became electric. Punta Carretas is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Politically located in the Municipality CH, it is an affluent neighborhood, with a high population density and a large number of high-rise apartment buildings. It is also an area with a large presence of exclusive private schools, international stores, haute cuisine restaurants and embassies. Geography Punta Carretas borders Parque Rodó to the north and west, Pocitos to the east and northeast, and the coastline to the south. It is the southernmost neighborhood of the city. The Santa Lucía River () is a river in Uruguay. Course The headwaters of the Santa Lucía River are in the Lavalleja department. For a large part of its course it forms the limit between the departments of Florida and San José on one bank and Canelones and Montevideo on the other.
