Punk (Chai Album)
''Punk'' (stylized in all caps) is the second studio album by Japanese band Chai. The album was released on February 13, 2019, by Otemoyan Records. It was released on March 15, 2019, in North America and Europe by Burger Records and Heavenly Recordings, respectively. Composition AllMusic's Tim Sendra felt the record left some of the rap rock influences prominent on ''PINK'' behind in exchange for more pop-oriented stylings. Indeed, ''PUNK'' dives into several pop-based genres from bubblegum to indie to synth-pop. Kicking off the record is "Choose Go!", a "punchy" piece of " cheerleader rock", that features " synths that churn like vacuum cleaners." Following is "the pulsing electronic pop" of "Great Job". "Wintime" is " Paramore-plucked, rose-tinted tropic- pop". Chai (band)
Chai was a Japanese pop band from Nagoya. The group consisted of four members: Mana, Kana, Yuuki and Yuna. Formed in 2012, the band released their debut studio album, ''Pink (Chai album), Pink'', in 2017. They announced their breakup in 2024. Biography Chai was formed in 2012 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, by twin sisters Mana and Kana, alongside Yuna and Yuuki. Mana, Kana, and Yuna are all from Nagoya, and were in the same class at high school. The three were members of the light music club at their high school, performing covers of musicians such as Tokyo Jihen and Aiko (Japanese singer), Aiko. Yuna introduced the other band members to Japanese music that did not easily fit into the traditional definition of "J-Pop", such as the band Cero or Kimyō Reitaro. After the members graduated and went to university, Mana became friends with Yuuki (originally from Gifu Prefecture, who had moved to Nagoya), and asked the four friends to form a band. Bubblegum Pop
Bubblegum (also called bubblegum pop) is pop music in a catchy and upbeat style that is marketed for children and adolescents. The term also refers to a more specific rock and pop subgenre, originating in the United States in the late 1960s, that evolved from garage rock, novelty songs, and the Brill Building sound, and which was also defined by its target demographic of preteens and young teenagers. Rap Rock
Rap rock is a music genre that developed from the early to mid-1980s, when hip hop DJs incorporated rock records into their routines and rappers began incorporating original and sampled rock instrumentation into hip hop music. Rap rock is considered to be rock music in which lyrics are rapped, rather than sung. The genre achieved its greatest success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
