Punjab Sports Board
Sports Board Punjab (or Punjab Sports Board) (SBP) is the governing body of sports in Punjab, Pakistan. It is administered by the Government of Punjab. The constitution of Sports Board Punjab was approved by the Governor of Punjab on 8 April 1985 for the development and regulation of sports in Punjab. The Chief Minister of Punjab serves as the patron-in-chief of SBP. Javid Rashid Chohan is the director general since November 2021. SBP's headquarters are located at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore. Pakistan Sports Board ( ur, ) was established under the Ministry of Education in 1962 as a corporate body for the purposes of promoting and developing uniform standards of competition for sports in Pakistan comparable to the standards prevailing internationally, and regulating and controlling sports in Pakistan on a national basis. Subsequently, in July 1977, with the creation of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the administrative control of Pakistan Sports Board was transferred to it. After the devolution of the Ministry of Sports in June 2011, the administrative control of the Pakistan Sports Board has transferred to Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC). National Hockey Stadium is a purpose-built field hockey stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. Punjab Youth Festival ( ur, پنجاب یوتھ فیسٹیول) is a sports festival held annually in Punjab, Pakistan. Chief Minister of the Punjab Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated it on October 20, 2012. The opening ceremony was held on that day in the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore. During the ceremony, 42,813 students sang the National Anthem in what became a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the highest number of people to have ever sung a national anthem in a live gathering.
