Pump Tour
The Pump Tour was a concert tour by American rock band Aerosmith that lasted twelve months, from mid-October 1989 to mid-October 1990. The tour was put on in support of the band's second consecutive multi-platinum album ''Pump'', released in September 1989. Background The Pump Tour saw the band continue its successful streak, on the heels of 1987's '' Permanent Vacation'' and its associated tour. During the course of the tour, the band charted four Top 40 singles from ''Pump''. By the end of the tour, ''Pump'' had sold four million copies, eventually selling seven million copies. This tour was notable as it saw Aerosmith's first return to Europe since 1977, as well as the band's first-ever performances in Australia. Sporthalle was an indoor arena located in Cologne, Germany. It was primarily used for basketball, other indoor sporting events and concerts until it closed due to the larger Lanxess Arena opening. The Marquee Club was a music venue in London, England, that opened in 1958 with a range of jazz and skiffle acts. It was a small and relatively cheap club, in the heart of London's West End of London, West End. It was the location of the first live performance by the Rolling Stones on 12 July 1962. Origins The club was established by Harold Pendleton, an accountant whose love of jazz had led him to become secretary of the National Jazz Federation. "Train Kept A-Rollin'" (or "The Train Kept A-Rollin'") is a song first recorded by American jazz and rhythm and blues musician Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. Originally performed in the style of a jump blues, Bradshaw borrowed lyrics from an earlier song and set them to an upbeat shuffle arrangement that inspired other musicians to perform and record it. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio made an important contribution in 1956 – they reworked it as a guitar riff-driven song, which features an early use of intentionally distorted guitar in rock music. In 1965, the Yardbirds popularized the song as an early psychedelic blues rock song, due largely to Jeff Beck's fuzz-toned guitar work.
