Puk Recording Studios
Puk Recording Studios, also known as Puk Studio or simply Puk, was a Danish recording studio located in Gjerlev, near Randers. Since its establishment in the early 1980s, it was used by numerous international artists, including Judas Priest, George Michael, Depeche Mode, and Elton John, as well as many Danish acts such as TV-2, September, Kashmir, and Nephew. In addition to recording facilities, the studio also featured an on-site hotel with wellness amenities and a swimming pool. History Puk Recording Studios was founded in the late 1970s by John "Puk" Quist and Birte Quist (born Sørensen) on a former farm estate that had previously functioned as a monastery near the town of Gjerlev. During the mid-1980s, the couple expanded the studio with support from audio engineering student Nete Ramlau-Hansen and local collaborators. Thomas Helmig (born 15 October 1964) is a Danish rock singer and musician, and has been one of the most popular singers in Denmark since the middle of the 1980s. Biography Thomas Helmig was born and grew up in Egå, a suburb of Aarhus, where his father was a doctor. His parents divorced when he was quite young. To escape from the feelings associated with his parents' divorce, Thomas took refuge in music, most notably he spent much time teaching himself to play the piano. Sort Sol
Sort Sol is a Danish rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band was formed in 1977 as a punk rock outfit, originally under the name Sods (stylized as SODS). The name ''Sort Sol'' was taken in the early 1980s. It translates to English as ''black sun'' and is named after a nature phenomenon particular to Denmark, where huge bird flocks gather in the sky and appear to block out the sun. Pretty Maids is a Danish Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Horsens. Formed in 1981 by Ken Hammer, and completed with Ronnie Atkins in 1982, their sound and music can be described as classic guitar-laden heavy rock with a strong emphasis on melody. Over the years, Pretty Maids have sold hundreds of thousands of records, but have never broken through in a major way, except in Japan during the 1990s. D-A-D (formerly stylized as D:A:D) is a Danish rock band. They were originally named Disneyland After Dark, but changed their name to avoid a lawsuit from The Walt Disney Company. History In the early 1980s in Copenhagen, D-A-D started playing together under their original name ''Disneyland After Dark''. Pedersen came up with the name based on the idea that when the lights are out in Disneyland, anything can happen. The first lineup of D-A-D consisted of Jesper, Stig, Peter and Stig's girlfriend, Lene Glumer. The band's debut concert was at the youth club Sundby Algaard. Per Højholt
Per Højholt (22 July 1928 – 15 October 2004) was a Danish poet. Højholt had his debut in 1948 when he published "De nøgne" (The Naked Ones), a series of poems which appeared in the magazine ''Heretica''. His first collection was '' Hesten og solen'', featuring religiously inspired poems. A major work came with ''Poetens hoved'' (The Head of the Poet) which appeared in 1963. This collection took a Modernist stance and meant a break with late Symbolism. Although a highly experimental and unorthodox writer, he became a popular poet. This is not least due to '' Gittes monologer'' (Gitte's Monologues). He toured the country with his recitals of these monologues which received considerable attention. Laid Back is a Danish electronic music duo group from Copenhagen, formed in 1979. The duo consists of John Guldberg (vocals, guitar, bass) and Tim Stahl (vocals, keyboards, drums, bass). They are best known for the hits " Sunshine Reggae" and "White Horse" from 1983 and "Bakerman" from 1989. Kim Mellius Flyvholm Larsen (23 October 1945 – 30 September 2018) was a Danish singer, songwriter, author, and guitarist. He began his musical career in 1968 after a brief period as an elementary school teacher and became known from 1969 as a member of the rock group Gasolin. During his time with Gasolin (which lasted until 1978), Larsen also released solo albums and records with his leisure band, which went by several names. Michael Ehlert Falch (born 16 September 1956 in Køge, Denmark) is a Danish singer, guitarist, author and actor.
