Puerto Rico Grand Prix
The Puerto Rico Grand Prix, was the name of two unconnected motor races held in Puerto Rico just over 40 years apart. The 1950s and 1960s saw a series of sports car races held after the European season at the end of the year in the Caribbean and the USA centred on the big dollar speedweek of races in Nassau, Bahamas, Nassau in the Bahamas. The Grand Prix Societe de Puerto Rico held an expansion to the Nassau season on the Antilles Auto Racing Circuit, near Caguas, Puerto Rico, Caguas over two weekends in November 1962 with the main event held on November 11. The race was won dominated by Roger Penske in his controversial Zerex special. Penske won the 246 kilometre race by three laps ahead of Timmy Mayer in a Cooper T53, Cooper Climax and factory Porsche racer Dan Gurney in a Porsche 718 WRS. Isla Grande Airport
Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport , also commonly known as Isla Grande Airport, is an airport in Isla Grande, a district in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is owned by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority and is adjacent to the Puerto Rico Convention Center, the San Juan Bay, and the Pan American Cruise Ship Terminal, and overlooks Cataño. Porsche 718
The Porsche 718 is a series of one- or two-seat sports-racing cars built by Porsche from 1957 to 1962. An open-wheel single-seat model was developed for Formula racing. Details The 718 was a development of the successful Porsche 550A with improvements made to the body work and suspension. The car's full name is 718 RSK, where "RS" stands for ''RennSport'' (sports-racing) and the "K" reflects the shape of the car's revised torsion-bar suspension. The Cuban Grand Prix, also known as the Havana Grand Prix, was a sports car motor race held for a brief period in the late 1950s in Havana, Cuba, last raced in 1960. The 1958 race is best remembered as the backdrop to the kidnapping of Formula One World Champion driver Juan Manuel Fangio by anti-government rebels linked to the 26th of July Movement. The 2003 Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup was the 38th season of the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am Series. Coventry Climax was a British forklift truck, fire pump, racing, and other specialty engine manufacturer. History Pre WW1 The company was started in 1903 as Lee Stroyer, but two years later, following the departure of Stroyer, it was relocated to Paynes Lane, Coventry, and renamed as Coventry-Simplex by H.
