Public Health Service National Emergency Preparedness Award
The Public Health Service National Emergency Preparedness Award is a decoration of the United States Public Health Service presented to members of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. It recognizes service to provide emergency medical or support services between 2006 and 2019. Criteria The PHS National Emergency Preparedness Award is awarded to officers who served at any time from 19 December 2006 through 31 December 2019 in an organizational entity whose mission was to provide emergency medical or support services. An officer is eligible for the award if he or she: * successfully served for at least two consecutive years as an active member of a USPHS Commissioned Corps-managed Rapid Deployment Unit or previously recognized Tier 1 or Tier 2 team and meets the eligibility criteria for the award as defined by the Surgeon General of the United States; or * was detailed or assigned by personnel orders for one continuous year to the United States Department ...

United States Public Health Service
The United States Public Health Service (USPHS or PHS) is a collection of agencies of the Department of Health and Human Services which manages public health, containing nine out of the department's twelve operating divisions. The assistant secretary for health oversees the PHS. The Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (PHSCC) is the federal uniformed service of the PHS, and is one of the eight uniformed services of the United States. PHS had its origins in the system of marine hospitals that originated in 1798. In 1871, these were consolidated into the Marine Hospital Service, and shortly afterwards the position of Surgeon General and the PHSCC were established. As the system's scope grew to include quarantine authority and research, it was renamed the Public Health Service in 1912. The United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHSCC; also referred to as the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service) is the uniformed service branch of the United States Public Health Service and one of the eight uniformed services of the United States (along with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, Space Force, and NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps). The commissioned corps' primary mission is the protection, promotion, and advancement of health and safety of the general public. Public Health Service Response Service Award
The Public Health Service Response Service Award is a decoration of the United States Public Health Service presented to members of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. It recognizes deployments to meet a public health need or to support a National Special Security Event. Criteria The PHS Response Service Award is awarded to officers who participate directly in a USPHS Commissioned Corps deployment to a designated public health need or National Special Security Event. An officer may receive only one award of the Response Service Award for participation in the same response. Public Health Service Recruitment Service Award
The Public Health Service Recruitment Service Award is a decoration of the United States Public Health Service presented to members of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. It recognizes contributions to recruitment efforts. Criteria The PHS National Emergency Preparedness Award is awarded to officers who contribute to the ongoing recruitment efforts of the USPHS Commissioned Corps. An officer is eligible for the award upon the completion after 3 April 2006 of three consecutive years: * in a position in which recruitment is a primary duty and responsibility, including policy development, the establishment of goals and strategies, and coordination of recruitment programs and initiatives; or * of maintaining a current status in the USPHS Commissioned Corps Associate Recruiter Program.
