Political Research Associates
Political Research Associates (PRA), formerly Midwest Research, Chicago (1981–87), is a non-profit research group focused on social justice and the pursuit of building a just democracy. The PRA is located in Somerville, Massachusetts. Mission PRA studies the U.S. political right wing, as well as white supremacists, and paramilitary organizations. It has a full-time staff of six. The Executive Director is Tarso Luis Ramos. Dr. Jean V. Hardisty was the founder and director from 1981 to 2004. Chip Berlet was the group's senior analyst from 1981–2011. Peggy Shinner (a poet) was the first archivist. Public Eye Network
The Public Eye Network is a group of progressive investigative reporters, licensed investigators, paralegal investigators, attorneys, and activists who share information about political repression and right-wing movements that undermine civil liberties and civil rights. It was formed in the 1970s from three pre-existing groups, the editors of '' The Public Eye,'' the magazine sponsoring organization, the Repression Information Project (RIP), and the Guild Investigative Group. Chip Berlet
John Foster "Chip" Berlet (; born November 22, 1949) is an American investigative journalist, research analyst, photojournalist, scholar, and activist specializing in the study of extreme right-wing movements in the United States. He also studies the spread of conspiracy theories. Since the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Berlet has regularly appeared in the media to discuss extremist news stories. He was a senior analyst at Political Research Associates (PRA), a non-profit group that tracks right-wing networks. Berlet, a paralegal, was a vice-president of the National Lawyers Guild. He has served on the advisory board of the Center for Millennial Studies at Boston University, and for over 20 years was on the board of the Defending Dissent Foundation. Russ Bellant
Russ Bellant (born 1949) is an American journalist, political activist, and author. He was an Associate of Political Research Associates. ''Old Nazis, the New Right, and the Republican Party'' is Bellant's most widely cited work. Chris Simpson wrote in the preface, "This book presents some of the best new research into the seamy side of the 'Reagan Revolution.' The Harvard Educational Review calls ''Old Nazis, the New Right, and the Republican Party'' an important book "which exposes the roots and growth of domestic fascist networks." In the same book Bellant documents Nazi involvement in Ukraine; The Nation said "Bellant's exposure of émigré Nazi leaders from Germany's World War II allies in the 1988 Bush presidential campaign was the driving force in the announced resignation of nine individuals, two of them from Ukraine".
