Ptychobela Griffithii
''Ptychobela griffithii'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids. ;Subspecies: * ''Ptychobela griffithii gracilior'' (Von Martens, 1904) Description The length of the shell varies between 30 mm and 50 mm. The small, solid shell has a fusiform shape. When the ribs and the smooth spiral lirae come together, they create axial nodes on the shoulder of each whorl. The depressed sutures lack a subsutural cord. The rather wide, slightly concave aperture measures about half the total length of the shell. The wide siphonal canal is moderately long. The outer lip is somewhat thickened. The ground color of the shell is brown with white axial nodes. Distribution This marine species occurs in the Red Sea, off Oman, in the Bay of Bengal and off Japan Japan ( ja, 日本, or , and formally , ''Nihonkoku'') is an island country in East Asia. It is situated in the northwest Pacific Ocean, and is bordered on ...

Ptychobela Vexillium
''Ptychobela vexillum'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies.MolluscaBase (2018). Ptychobela vexillium (Habe & Kosuge, 1966). Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=1056672 on 2018-09-20 R.N. Kilburn proposed in 1989 ''Brachytoma vexillum'' Habe & Kosuge, 1966 as a synonym of '' Ptychobela suturalis'' (Gray, 1838) The epithet ''vexillium'' was probably a misspelling in the original text, but was not indicated as such. Therefore, it takes priority over ''vexillum'', published five-month later and repeated later by some authors. Description The length of the shell attains 46.5 mm, its diameter 14.5 mm. Distribution This marine species occurs in the South China Sea, off the Philippines and Japan Japan ( ja, 日本, or , and formally , ''Nihonkoku'') is an island country in East Asia. Ptychobela Baynhami
''Ptychobela baynhami'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 29 mm, its diameter 9 mm. Like ''Ptychobela suturalis'' (Gray, 1838), this fusiform, turreted species has a raised fillet at the suture. But it may be distinguished by its shorter body whorl, its more pronounced ribs, and the difference of colour. The shell contains 12 whorls; the first two are smooth and globose. The subsequent whorls are concave above the middle and convex below. The ribs (in the penultimate whorl 9–10) become obsolete a little above the middle of the whorls where the concavity commences, and, being traversed by a distinct tenuous white spiral thread, have a somewhat angulated appearance. The aperture measures 2/5th of the total length. The inner part of the aperture is livid. The columella is slightly arcuate and has a minute callus. Distribution This marine species ...

Description The length of the shell varies between 35 mm and 50 mm. (Original description) the shell is rather coarse with about a dozen whorls. The color of the shell is yellowish or light brown. The protoconch is smooth and slightly bulbous. The suture is strongly appressed with a spiral cord in front of it. The whorls are moderatelyshouldered. The anal fasciole is somewhat concave and spirally striate. The axial sculpture consists of (on the body whorl about 12) protractively oblique rounded ribs with subequal interspaces, prominent on the periphery, attenuated on the base and not reaching the siphonal canal. The incremental lines are sharp, sometimes almost threadlike. The spiral sculpture consists of (from three to five on the spire, about 10 on the body whorl) strong, rounded cords overriding the ribs an ...
