Psychtoolbox For MATLAB
Psychophysics Toolbox Version 3 (PTB-3) is a collection of free functions for MATLAB or GNU Octave intended for use by neuroscience and vision researchers. It synthesizes and shows accurately controlled visual and auditory stimuli and interacts with the observer. It has an active forum, and many citations. PTB-3 is based on the Psychophysics Toolbox Version 2 (PTB-2) but its MATLAB extensions (in C) were rewritten to be more modular and use OpenGL. Psychtoolbox is offered alongside many alternative toolboxes for programming Psychophysics and Psychology experiments, such as PsychoPy for Python or jsPsych for JavaScript. GNU Octave
GNU Octave is a scientific programming language for scientific computing and numerical computation. Octave helps in solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments using a language that is mostly compatible with MATLAB. It may also be used as a Batch processing, batch-oriented language. As part of the GNU Project, it is free software under the terms of the GNU General Public License. History The project was conceived around 1988. At first it was intended to be a companion to a chemical reactor design course. Full development was started by John W. Eaton in 1992. PsychoPy
PsychoPy is an open source software package written in the Python programming language primarily for use in neuroscience and experimental psychology research. Developed initially as a Python library and then as an application with a graphical interface, it now also supports JavaScript outputs to run studies online and on mobile devices. Unlike most packages, it provides users with a choice of interface - they can generate experiments by writing Python scripts, use a graphical interface that will generate a script for them, or combine both methods.
