Psychotherapy Research
''Psychotherapy Research'' is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal covering research on all aspects of psychotherapy. It is published by Routledge on behalf of the Society for Psychotherapy Research. The founding team of editors consisted of David Alan Shapiro (Leeds University), Hans Strupp, and Klaus Grawe. The current editors are Christoph Flückiger (University of Zürich) and Jeffrey A. Hayes (Penn State University). Abstracting and indexing The journal is abstracted and indexed in MEDLINE, Scopus, Social Sciences Citation Index, Psychological Abstracts, PsycINFO, and PsycLIT. According to the ''Journal Citation Reports'', the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 2.984. Psychotherapy (also psychological therapy, talk therapy, or talking therapy) is the use of Psychology, psychological methods, particularly when based on regular Conversation, personal interaction, to help a person change behavior, increase happiness, and overcome problems. Social Sciences Citation Index
The Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) is a commercial citation index product of Clarivate Analytics. It was originally developed by the Institute for Scientific Information from the Science Citation Index. The Social Sciences Citation Index is a multidisciplinary index which indexes over 3,400 journals across 58 social science disciplines – 1985 to present, and it has 122 million cited references – 1900 to present. It also includes a range of 3,500 selected items from some of the world's finest scientific and technical journals. The impact factor (IF) or journal impact factor (JIF) of an academic journal is a type of journal ranking. Journals with higher impact factor values are considered more prestigious or important within their field. The Impact Factor of a journal reflects the yearly mean number of article citations published in the last two years. While frequently used by universities and funding bodies to decide on promotion and research proposals, it has been criticised for distorting good scientific practices. PsycLIT was a CD-ROM version of ''Psychological Abstracts''. It was merged into the PsycINFO online database in 2000. PsycLIT contained citations and abstracts to journal articles, and summaries of English-language chapters and books in psychology, as well as behavioral information from sociology, linguistics, medicine, law, psychiatry, and anthropology. PsycINFO is a database of abstracts of literature in the field of psychology. It is produced by the American Psychological Association and distributed on the association's APA PsycNET and through third-party vendors. It is the electronic version of the now-ceased '' Psychological Abstracts''. In 2000, it absorbed PsycLIT which had been published on CD-ROM. PsycINFO contains citations and summaries from the 19th century to the present of journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations. Overview The database, which is updated weekly, contained over 3.5 million records as of October 2013. Approximately 175,000 records were added to the database in 2012.
