Swiss Psalm
The Swiss Psalm ( ; ; ; ) is the national anthem of Switzerland. It was composed in 1841, by Alberich Zwyssig (1808–1854). Since then, it has been frequently sung at patriotic events. The Federal Council declined, however, on numerous occasions to accept the psalm as the official anthem. This was because the council wanted the people to express their say on what they wanted as a national anthem. From 1961 to 1981, it provisionally replaced "" ("When You Call, My Country"; French ""; Italian "", Romansh ""), the anthem by Johann Rudolf Wyss (1743–1818) that was set to the melody of "God Save the King". On 1 April 1981, the Swiss Psalm was declared the official Swiss national anthem. In 2014, the organized a public competition and unofficial vote to change the lyrics of the national anthem. History The German-language patriotic song "" (French "", Italian "", Romansh ""), composed in 1811 by Johann Rudolf Wyss (1743–1818), was used as the ''de facto'' national anth ...

Psalm (Paul Motian Album)
''Psalm'' is an album by the Paul Motian Band recorded in December 1981 and released on ECM June the following year—Motian's fifth album for the label and first with the quintet, featuring guitarist Bill Frisell, bassist Ed Schuller, and saxophonists Joe Lovano and Billy Drewes. Reception The AllMusic review by Scott Yanow states, "The eight compositions by drummer Paul Motian on this ECM release (which is available on CD) are rather dry and none caught on as future standards. But the playing by Motian's sidemen (tenors Joe Lovano and Billy Drewes, bassist Ed Schuller and especially the remarkable guitarist Bill Frisell) uplifted the music and gave this group a strong personality of its own. Although the results are not all that memorable, the music should please adventurous listeners."Yanow, S.AllMusic Reviewaccessed June 15, 2011 Track listing Personnel Paul Motian Band *Paul Motian – drums *Bill Frisell – electric guitar *Ed Schuller – bass *Joe Lovano Joseph ...

Critical reception The album received mostly positive reviews from critics. ''KillYourStereo'' rated the album 3 out of 5 and said: "It would be going too far to say that Lorna Shore's ''Psalms'' is a bad album. All the successful elements of a deathcore album are there and they're executed skillfully. Unfortunately, the abundance of breakdowns that pop up literally stop the album in its tracks. With material from Aversions Crown and Black Tongue managing to showcase new elements in the genre, it's a shame that Lorna Shore fail to bring anything fresh to the table." ''New Noise'' gave the album a positive review but stated: "That's how most of these tracks feel. If you took out the breakdowns, or at least minimized their lengths, you would be left with one of, if not the best, death ...
