Préizerdaul
Préizerdaul () is a commune in western Luxembourg, in the canton of Redange. Until 17 July 2001, it was known as Bettborn, after its administrative centre. Préizerdaul was the first commune to change its name since before the First World War; to date, it is the only commune to have changed its name to a name of Luxembourgish origin. Emile Calmes
Emile Calmes (born 3 October 1954 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician. He served as Mayor of Préizerdaul from 1982 to 2011 and as a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1989 to 2007. He has been a member of the Democratic Party (DP) since 1982. In 1982, Calmes became Mayor of Préizerdaul (then named ' Bettborn'), in north-western Luxembourg. He entered the Chamber of Deputies at the 1989 election, running in the Nord constituency, which includes Préizerdaul. He was re-elected in 1994. Redange (canton)
Redange () is a cantons of Luxembourg, canton in the northwest of Luxembourg. Its namesake commune is Redange, officially known as Redange-sur-Attert. It borders the cantons of Wiltz to the north, Diekirch and Mersch to the east, Capellen to the south and Belgium to the west (Luxembourg (Belgium), Province de Luxembourg). Geography The canton lies right on the border of the two main landscapes of Luxembourg. To the north, the landscape is dominated by the Oesling mountain range, which is a part of the greater Ardennes region. This region is characterised by densely forested hills with an average altitude of 400 to 500m above sealevel, with the highest point being ''Napoléonsgaard'' standing at 554m. Furthermore this region shows deep valleys which were carved into the ground by rivers and streams, the Sauer and Wark (river), Wark being the most notable ones. James Schwebach
James Schwebach (August 15, 1847 – June 6, 1921) was a Luxembourgish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who served as Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse in Wisconsin from 1892 until his death in 1921. Biography Early life and education James Schwebach was born on August 15, 1847, at Platen in the Préizerdaul commune of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to Nicholas Joseph and Margaret (née Busch) Schwebach. He received his early education from private tutors, and afterwards studied at the college of Diekirch for two years. In 1864, Schwebach immigrated to the United States, where he entered St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He there completed his studies in philosophy and theology in five years. At age 21, being too young for ordination to the priesthood, Schwebach was called to La Crosse and was there ordained a deacon by Bishop Michael Heiss on July 24, 1869. Rambrouch ( or (locally) ; is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and small town in western Luxembourg, in the Redange (canton), canton of Redange. It lies close to the border with Belgium. Redange
Redange or Redange-sur-Attert (; ; ) is a commune and town in northwestern Luxembourg, near the border with Belgium. It is situated in the eponymous canton of Redange. Useldange
Useldange ( ; ) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and small town in western Luxembourg, in the Redange (canton), canton of Redange. , the town of Useldange, which lies in the east of the commune, has a population of 1,127. Other towns within the commune include Everlange, Rippweiler, and Schandel. Useldange Castle is a medieval castle, which, while now being mainly in ruin, also comprises the current town hall.
