Provo ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Utah County, Utah, United States. It is south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front, and lies between the cities of Orem, Utah, Orem to the north and Springville, Utah, Springville to the south. Provo Canyon
Provo Canyon is located in unincorporated Utah County and Wasatch County, Utah. Provo Canyon runs between Mount Timpanogos on the north and Mount Cascade on the south. The canyon extends from Orem on the west end to Heber City on the east. Provo Canyon is situated to the east of Utah Valley and grants access to the valleys and Uinta Basin regions that lie beyond the Wasatch front. It rises in the Uinta Mountains at Wall Lake and flows about southwest to Utah Lake at the city of Provo, Utah. Provo (movement)
Provo was a Dutch counterculture movement in the mid-1960s that focused on provoking violent responses from authorities using non-violent bait. It was preceded by the nozem movement and followed by the hippie movement. Provo was founded, on 25 May 1965, by Robert Jasper Grootveld, an anti-smoking activist, and the anarchists Roel van Duijn and Rob Stolk. The term was used for the movement as a whole and for individual members. Provo was officially disbanded on 13 May 1967. Magazine 12 July 1965 the first ''Provo'' magazine was published. It contained the "Provo manifesto", written by Roel van Duijn, and reprinted recipes for bombs from a nineteenth-century anarchist pamphlet. The magazine was eventually confiscated. Provo High School
Provo High School is a public secondary school located in Provo, Utah, United States. It is one of three high schools in the Provo City School District and was the oldest secondary school in the city. In the Summer of 2017 the school district began building a new school. The school was finished in August 2018. History Provo High School was founded in 1912. It did not graduate its first students until 1921. The students originally met at Provo Center School before a specific high school building was built in 1920. The current Provo High School was built in 2018. Move In December 2015, the Provo City School District voted to sell the 25 acre property where Provo High School stands and move to a location in the western side of the city, rather than rebuild on the current site. It is served by the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) FrontRunner commuter rail line as well as local, intra-county, and interstate buses. It is the southern terminus of the commuter rail system, with service running north as far as Ogden. The station is also known as Provo Intermodal Hub, Provo Station, or Provo CRS. It is part of the ''FrontRunner'' South extension. Provo station is a train station in Provo, Utah. It is served by Amtrak's ''California Zephyr'', which runs once daily between Chicago and Emeryville, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Description The station is located on the north side of the tracks and south of 600 South at 300 West. It is easily accessible from 200 West and has six paved parking spaces. There are no services provided at the station (i.e., ticketing, restrooms, lounge, etc.). The station is within walking distance of downtown Provo. The station is located within a Quiet Zone, so all trains (including Utah Transit Authority's ''FrontRunner'' and Union Pacific's) do not routinely sound their horns when approaching public crossings within this corridor although they do sound their bells. Provo Peak is a mountain peak located in the Wasatch Range and the Uinta National Forest that is located within the city limits of Provo, Utah, United States. The peak has an elevation of , but a prominence of only . Although located along the Wasatch Front, it is situated behind (east-southeast) of Y Mountain. The trapper Étienne Provost is the peak's namesake, also of the city of Provo. Near the top of the peak are multiple parallel terraces that can be easily seen from the valley floor from the west or south. Frederick Lewis Provo (April 17, 1922 – June 6, 1999) was an American professional football halfback who played one season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Green Bay Packers. He played college football for the Washington Huskies and was selected by the Packers in the 14th round of the 1948 NFL draft. Early life Provo was born on April 17, 1922, in Seattle, Washington. He attended Vancouver High School; he is one of only two of their alumni to play in the NFL. At Vancouver, he was a member of their football, basketball and track and field teams. In football in 1939, he led the Southwest Washington Conference with 51 points scored in seven games, averaging over a touchdown and a conversion per game.
