History Holy Cross Medical Center was founded in 1961 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross from Notre Dame, Indiana. On May 1, 1996, the Sisters of Providence assumed sponsorship of the hospital, adding ''Providence'' to the name. Porter Ranch is a suburban neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, in the northwest portion of the San Fernando Valley. History The Porter family acquired part of Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando in 1874. Porter Ranch community started as a housing tract in the community of Northridge. This was along San Fernando Mission Blvd west of Reseda Blvd circa 1960–1963. Almost no homes were north of Rinaldi Street until the area was annexed by the City of Los Angeles in 1965. 2019 Saugus High School Shooting
On November 14, 2019, at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California, United States, a school shooting occurred when a student with a pistol, identified as 16-year-old Nathaniel Berhow, shot five schoolmates, killing two, before killing himself. Background As a response to the rise of school shootings elsewhere in the United States, the William S. Hart Union School District had undertaken a number of measures to improve security at the school.
