Olive Higgins Prouty
Olive Higgins Prouty (January 10, 1882 – March 24, 1974) was an American novelist and poet, best known for her 1923 novel ''Stella Dallas (novel), Stella Dallas'' and her pioneering consideration of psychotherapy in her 1941 novel ''Now, Voyager#Source material, Now, Voyager''. Early life Olive Higgins was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1894, she was reported to have suffered a nervous breakdown that lasted nearly two years. She was a 1904 graduate of Smith College and married Lewis I. Prouty in 1907. The couple moved to Brookline, Massachusetts in 1908. They had four children: Richard, Jane, Alice and Olivia; the latter two predeceased their mother. Following the death of her daughter, Olivia, in 1923, Prouty suffered from another nervous breakdown in 1925. Nada Nadim Prouty (née Al-Aouar; born c. 1970) is a Lebanese former intelligence professional of Druze descent who worked in American counter-terrorism with the FBI and CIA. She worked on high-profile cases like the USS ''Cole'' bombing and was stationed in Baghdad during the Iraq War. She resigned after a government investigation into her brother-in-law, Talal Khalil Chahin, allegedly led to the discovery of her having committed immigration-related marriage fraud. Prouty claims she disclosed the sham marriage to the FBI when she applied, and the FBI has not denied this claim, stating simply the FBI "never condoned" the marriage. Prouty Place State Park
Prouty Place State Park is a Pennsylvania state park on in Summit Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park is southwest of Pennsylvania Route 44, along Prouty Road near the junction with Long Toe Road, near Sweden Valley. The park provides access points for hiking, hunting and fishing in the Susquehannock State Forest. It is a small rest area for hikers and other travellers to the wilds of Potter County. Prouty Place was designated a Class "B" campground by the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry from 1922 to 1925. During the Great Depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps built the current picnic area and former campsites between 1935 and 1938. Prouty Place State Park officially became part of the Pennsylvania State Parks system in 1957. The park is a short distance from the Susquehannock Trail System, and is connected to it by a link trail.
