Prothom Bangladesh
"Prothom Bangladesh" () is a patriotic song by Shahnaz Rahmatullah. Moniruzzaman Monir wrote and Alauddin Ali composed the song. The song was first broadcast in a TV program on Bangladesh Television in the late 1970s. It's the party anthem of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Journalist Azizul Islam Bhuiya claimed that on 12 December 1978, when the Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf asked the party founder and president Ziaur Rahman in a session to change the national flag, he replied with assurance that he would think about it after changing the a Hindu-written national anthem of the country, "Amar Sonar Bangla". At the time he mentioned the song as the new national anthem. Shahnaz Rahmatullah
Shahnaz Rahmatullah (; 2 January 1952 – 23 March 2019) was a Pakistani and later Bangladeshi singer. Her notable songs are Prothom Bangladesh, ''Prothom Bangladesh Amar Sesh Bangladesh'', ''Ekbar Jete De Na Amar Chotto Sonar Gaye'', ''Je Chilo Drishtir Shimanay'' and ''Ek Tara Tui Desher Kotha''. She was the recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 1992 and Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film ''Chhutir Phande'' (1990). Background Rahmatullah was born on 2 January 1952 as Shahnaz Begum in Dhaka to M Fazlul Haq and Asiya Haq. Actor Zafar Iqbal (actor), Zafar Iqbal and music director Anwar Parvez were Rahmatullah's brothers. "" is the national anthem of the Republic of India. It was originally composed as " Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata" in Bengali by polymath and activist Rabindranath Tagore on 11 December 1911. The first stanza of the song " Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata" was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950. A formal rendition of the national anthem takes approximately 52 seconds. A shortened version consisting of the first and last lines (and taking about 20 seconds to play) is also staged occasionally. Bangladesh Betar (; ), is the state-owned radio broadcaster of Bangladesh, initially established as the Dhaka station of All India Radio in 1939. It was later made part of Radio Pakistan. Ziaur Rahman, the sixth president of Bangladesh, was assassinated by a faction of officers of Bangladesh Army, on 30 May 1981, in the southeastern port city of Chittagong.
