Proteas Voulas B.C.
Proteas Voulas is a Greek basketball club based in Voula, Attica. It was founded in 1980. Proteas has both men's and women's team which play in Greek national divisions. The women's team plays in A1 Ethniki Women (first-tier) and the men's team plays in Greek C Basketball League (fourth-tier). The team's colours are blue and red and the home stadium of the club is the Voulas Indoor Hall. Women's team Proteas Voulas has won a Greek cup, in season 2012-13. That year, the club played in A2 Ethniki, so Proteas became the first club in Greece which won a Greek cup whereas it was playing in lower division. At the same year, Proteas promoted to A1 Ethniki and since then it plays in first-tier of championship. The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki (A1 National) Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation). It began with the 1967–68 season. The first championship of the league, which was held in the 1967–68 season, was organised by ΕΟΑΠ (Greek: ''Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Αθλοπαιδιών''). Two years later, the EOK assumed control of the competition. Iraklis Thessaloniki won the inaugural championship of the league, in the 1967–68 season. From 1976 to 1999, Sporting Athens dominated the competition, winning 20 championships in that period (they also won another championship in 2004). So far, Sporting has won the most league championships (21 in total). From 2008 to 2012, Athinaikos dominated exclusively, breaking the record of consecutive wins in the Greek Women's League. Greek Women's Basketball Cup
The Greek Women's Basketball Cup is the national women's basketball cup competition of Greece. It began with the 1995–96 season, and it is organised by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK). So far, eleven clubs have won the cup. Most of them are based in the Athens Urban Area. Olympiacos Piraeus is based in Piraeus Urban Area and Apollon Kalamarias is based in Kalamaria, in the Thessaloniki Urban Area. Voula
Voula ( el, Βούλα) is a southern suburb of Athens along the Athens coast and former municipality in East Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 8.787 km2. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
