Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc.
Prospect Medical Holdings is a private healthcare company based in Los Angeles, California which operates 16 hospitals in the United States, mainly in California and the Northeastern United States. History Prospect was founded in 1996 by a group of physicians in California. In 2010, private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners (LGP) acquired a 61.3% stake in Prospect in a $363 million leveraged buyout. Amid the hospital system's fiscal troubles, Leonard Green attempted twice to sell the company in 2015 and 2018, but failed due to the company's poor financials. Prospect then initiated a $1.31 billion dividend recapitalization, which allowed it to refinance its debt and landed Leonard Green $658.4 million in dividends and management fees. In 2019, Prospect sold its California, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania hospital real estate to Medical Properties Trust (MPT), a healthcare real estate investment trust, for $1.386 billion in order to pay off debt. Dividend Recapitalization
A dividend recapitalization (often referred to as a dividend recap) in finance is a type of leveraged recapitalization in which a payment is made to shareholders. As opposed to a typical dividend which is paid regularly from the company's earnings, a dividend recapitalization occurs when a company raises debt —e.g. by issuing bonds to fund the dividend. These types of recapitalization can be minor adjustments to the capital structure of the company, or can be large changes involving a change in the power structure as well. As with other leveraged transactions, if a firm cannot make its debt payments, meet its loan covenants or rollover its debt it enters financial distress which often leads to bankruptcy. Therefore, the additional debt burden of a leveraged recapitalization makes a firm more vulnerable to unexpected business problems including recessions and financial crises. Typically a dividend recapitalization will be pursued when the equity investors are seeking to real ...

Rhysida (hacker Group)
Rhysida is a ransomware group that encrypts data on victims' computer systems and threatens to make it publicly available unless a ransom is paid. The group uses eponymous ransomware-as-a-service techniques, targets large organisations rather than making random attacks on individuals, and demands large sums of money to restore data. The group perpetrated the notable 2023 British Library cyberattack and Insomniac Games data dump. It has targeted many organisations, including some in the US healthcare sector, and the Chilean army. In November 2023, the US agencies Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), FBI and MS-ISAC published an alert about the Rhysida ransomware and the actors behind it, with information about the techniques the ransomware uses to infiltrate targets and its mode of operation. The group may be based in the Commonwealth of Independent States. The group takes its name from the Rhysida, genus of centipedes, and uses a centipede logo. Attacks * ...

Hacker Group
Hacker groups are informal communities that began to flourish in the early 1980s, with the advent of the home computer. Overview Prior to that time, the term ''hacker'' was simply a referral to any Hacker (hobbyist), computer hobbyist. The hacker groups were out to make names for themselves, and were often spurred on by their own press. This was a heyday of hacking, at a time before there was much law against computer crime. Hacker groups provided access to information and resources, and a place to learn from other members. Hackers could also gain credibility by being affiliated with an elite group. The names of hacker groups often parody large corporations, governments, police and criminals; and often used specialized orthography. See also *List of hacker groups References

Cyberattack
A cyberattack (or cyber attack) occurs when there is an unauthorized action against computer infrastructure that compromises the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of its content. The rising dependence on increasingly complex and interconnected computer systems in most domains of life is the main factor that causes vulnerability to cyberattacks, since virtually all computer systems have bugs that can be exploited by attackers. Although it is impossible or impractical to create a perfectly secure system, there are many defense mechanisms that can make a system more difficult to attack, making information security a field of rapidly increasing importance in the world today. Perpetrators of a cyberattack can be criminals, hacktivists, or states. They attempt to find weaknesses in a system, exploit them and create malware to carry out their goals, and deliver it to the targeted system. Once installed, the malware can have a variety of effects depending on its purpose. ...
