"Promises" is a 1999 song by British rock band Def Leppard from their album ''Euphoria''. It was released as a single later that year and reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart as well as number forty-one on the U.K. Singles Chart. "Promises" is a staple of the band's live performances. Due to its popularity among fans, Def Leppard has performed the song over five hundred times as of December 2022, making it one of the group's top twenty-five most played pieces. Def Leppard
Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1976 in Sheffield. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen (guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitar, backing vocals). They established themselves as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 1980s. The band's greatest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Their first album, 1980's '' On Through the Night'', reached the Top 15 in the UK but received little notice elsewhere. ''Pyromania'' is the third studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 20 January 1983 through Vertigo Records in UK and Europe and through Mercury Records in the US. The first album to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis, ''Pyromania'' was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The album was a shift away from the band's traditional heavy metal roots toward a more radio-friendly sound, finding massive mainstream success. Matthew Adam Nathanson (born March 28, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter whose work is a blend of folk and rock and roll music. In addition to singing, he plays acoustic (sometimes a 12-string) and electric guitar, and has played both solo and with a full band. His work includes the platinum-selling song "Come On Get Higher". One of his hit songs, "Giants", was the opening music for the 2016 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on ESPN. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is a song by the English rock band Def Leppard from their 1987 album ''Hysteria''. It reached number 2 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on 23 July 1988, behind " Hold On to the Nights" by Richard Marx. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is considered the band's signature song, and was ranked #2 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 80s" in 2006. Production Near the end of recording the album ''Hysteria'', during a production break, lead singer Joe Elliott was jamming with a riff he had come up with two weeks earlier on an acoustic guitar. Producer Mutt Lange, expressing great liking of it, suggested that it be developed into another song. Although already behind schedule, Lange felt that the album was still missing a strong crossover hit and that this last song had the potential to be one. ''Viva! Hysteria'' is a double live album by the English rock band Def Leppard released on the 22 October 2013. The album was recorded on 29 and 30 March 2013 during the band's residency of the same name at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (Las Vegas). Content The first disc, taken from the band's 30 March performance, contains all 12 tracks from Def Leppard's 1987 album ''Hysteria'', followed by an encore of two hits from their 1983 album ''Pyromania'', which were "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph." The second disc has a selection of deeper cuts, many of which the band had not played in many years or even decades prior to the residency. The band performed the songs on the second disc under the alias Ded Flatbird as the "opening act" for the show, before playing all the songs on the ''Hysteria'' album as Def Leppard later in the night.
