Projekt Records is an independent record label established by Sam Rosenthal in 1983, the label focuses on darkwave, ambient, shoegaze, gothic rock, ethereal, dream-pop, and dark cabaret releases. History Projekt was founded in 1983 by Sam Rosenthal, as a record label concentrated on releasing dream-pop, neoclassical, ambient, gothic rock and shoegaze bands, including Rosenthal's own group, Black Tape for a Blue Girl. Projektfest Projekt Records also presents Projektfest, a semi-annual festival of gothic and ethereal music, primarily featuring Projekt artists. In 1996, Projektfest ran for two days in Chicago. In 1997, Chicago hosted the festival again, followed a few weeks later by another day of performances in Mexico City. In 1998, Projektfest ran a series of four one-day events in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York City. Sam Rosenthal
Sam Rosenthal is an American musician, composer, artist, and novelist. He is the founder and leader of the band Black Tape for a Blue Girl and the Projekt Records record label. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his son and cat. Rosenthal was interviewed in August 2016 for an NPR piece about the DMCA. "It's a really unreasonable expectation," he says, "that I would have the time to chase (illegal downloads) all day when I should be running a business and making music." Projekt Records Begun by Rosenthal in 1983 as a way to release his own solo electronic music, Projekt Records spent its first three years as a cassette-only label with a series of titles that are now long out-of-print. The Middle East is an entertainment complex consisting of five adjacent dining and live music venues in the Central Square (Cambridge), Central Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Vidna Obmana
Vidna Obmana (stylized vidnaObmana on many album covers) is a pseudonym used by Belgian composer and ambient musician Dirk Serries. The name ''Vidna Obmana'', a phrase in Serbian, literally translates to "optical illusion" and was chosen by Serries because he felt it accurately described the music. Serries created music under the Vidna Obmana pseudonym from 1984 until 2007, when he officially retired the name. Most of his current work is released under the Fear Falls Burning pseudonym. Unto Ashes is an American musical ensemble based in New York City that incorporates madrigal, folk, and elements of neo-medieval and darkwave. Founded by Michael Laird and Susanna Melendez in 1997, the band has released twelve full-length CDs on the Projekt label (all recorded and produced by Laird). Mirabilis is an American neoclassical dark wave musical project formed in 2001 by Dru Allen of This Ascension and Summer Bowman of the Machine in the Garden. Mirabilis uses vocals as the primary instrumentation, crafting original musical compositions and interpreting traditional classical vocal pieces from a number of different periods.
