Projective Representation
In the field of representation theory in mathematics, a projective representation of a group ''G'' on a vector space ''V'' over a field ''F'' is a group homomorphism from ''G'' to the projective linear group \mathrm(V) = \mathrm(V) / F^*, where GL(''V'') is the general linear group of invertible linear transformations of ''V'' over ''F'', and ''F''∗ is the normal subgroup consisting of nonzero scalar multiples of the identity transformation (see Scalar transformation). Central Extension (mathematics)
In mathematics, a group extension is a general means of describing a group (mathematics), group in terms of a particular normal subgroup and quotient group. If Q and N are two groups, then G is an extension of Q by N if there is a short exact sequence :1\to N\;\overset\;G\;\overset\;Q \to 1. Lie Group
In mathematics, a Lie group (pronounced ) is a group (mathematics), group that is also a differentiable manifold, such that group multiplication and taking inverses are both differentiable. A manifold is a space that locally resembles Euclidean space, whereas groups define the abstract concept of a binary operation along with the additional properties it must have to be thought of as a "transformation" in the abstract sense, for instance multiplication and the taking of inverses (to allow division), or equivalently, the concept of addition and subtraction. Discrete Fourier Transform
In mathematics, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) converts a finite sequence of equally-spaced Sampling (signal processing), samples of a function (mathematics), function into a same-length sequence of equally-spaced samples of the discrete-time Fourier transform (DTFT), which is a complex number, complex-valued function of frequency. Schur's Lemma
In mathematics, Schur's lemma is an elementary but extremely useful statement in representation theory of groups and algebras. In the group case it says that if ''M'' and ''N'' are two finite-dimensional irreducible representations of a group ''G'' and ''φ'' is a linear map from ''M'' to ''N'' that commutes with the action of the group, then either ''φ'' is invertible, or ''φ'' = 0.
