Project 23560 Lider-class Destroyer
The Lider class (), also referred to as Shkval class (), Russian designation Project 23560 ''Lider'' for domestic use and Project 23560E ''Shkval'' for export, is a combined stealth nuclear-powered guided-missile destroyer and cruiser, under consideration for the Russian Navy. Detailed design phase began in 2016–2017, with construction expected to commence after 2020. In April 2020, the ''Lider'' project was reported suspended but in July 2020 was reported to still be moving ahead. History Project approval was given in 2013, and in 2015, Severnoye Design Bureau was awarded with a contract for the creation of a smaller non-nuclear and heavier nuclear-powered variant of the future destroyer. In 2016, the Krylov State Scientific Center handed the preliminary design of the destroyer to the Russian Navy. Severnaya Verf
Severnaya Verf () is a major shipyard on in Saint Petersburg, Russia, producing naval and civilian ships. It was founded as a branch of the Putilov Plant in the late 1800s. Under the Soviets, the shipyard was generally known as Shipyard No. 190 (in the name of Andrei Zhdanov, Zhdanov) and reverted to its former name in 1989. The priority market for ''Severnaya Verf'' is military export to Asian countries as India, China and Vietnam. The Project 22350 also known as the ''Admiral Gorshkov'' class, is a class of frigates of the Russian Navy. The ships are being built by the Severnaya Verf in Saint Petersburg at a cost of $250 million per ship. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991, the Russian Navy struggled to adjust Cold War force structures while suffering severely with insufficient maintenance and a lack of funding. A guided-missile destroyer (DDG) is a destroyer whose primary armament is guided missiles so they can provide anti-aircraft warfare screening for the fleet.
