Prithwi Malla
Prithwi Malla was the king of the Malla dynasty. He ruled from 1295 CE. to 1319 CE (both the dates being approximates). History Prithwi Malla is held to be an important socio-political figure for the establishment or, as deduced from their architectural styles, restoration and reconsecration of the two temples of Lord Siva. These are Shaileshwar and Shnareshwar temple at the chalcolithic site of Dihar around 8 kilometres from Bishnupur. Mallabhum (The Country originally known as Mallabhoom or Mallabani bn, মল্লভূম or Bishnupur kingdom ) was the kingdom ruled by the Malla kings of Bishnupur, primarily in the present Bankura district in Indian state of West Bengal. History Territory of the Mallabhum It is told that Mallabhum is the territory, which included Bankura, a part of Burdwan, Birbhum, Santhal Parganas, Midnapur and also a part of Purulia. The Malla Rajas ruled over the vast territory in the south-western part of present West Bengal and a part of southeastern Jharkhand. Extent The area around Bishnupur and Bankura was called Mallabhum.
