Prisons In Florida
The Florida Department of Corrections is divided into four regions, each representing a specific geographical area of the state. Region I is the panhandle area, Region II is the north-east and north-central areas, Region III consist of central Florida and Region Iwhich covers the southern portion of the peninsula. There are several types of facilities in Florida, ranging from community work release centers to maximum security institutions. The State of Florida operates almost all of its major institutions and most of its lesser facilities. Privately operated prisons in Florida are called "Correctional Facilities" (for example, Lake City Correctional Facility) while state operated facilities are called "Correctional Institutions" (i.e. Union Correctional Institution). Everglades Correctional Institution

Lawtey Correctional Institution
The Lawtey Correctional Institution (also LCI) is a Level 3 security prison facility for adult males in Lawtey, Florida, U.S.A. The facility was established in 1973 as a Community Vocational Center Housing for work release inmates. In 1977 it switched to a major institution housing for adult male inmates. In 2004, the Correctional Institution became a male Faith- and Character-Based Institution (FCBI). The Dinsmore Work Release Center, the Bridges of Jacksonville Work Release Center, and the Shisa East Work Release Center are today under the supervision of LCI. The total staff in 2012 was 237 and has a maximum inmate capacity of 832.
