Princess Patricia II
''Princess Patricia'', was launched on 5 October 1948 and completed in May 1949 for the Canadian Pacific Railway, was the first ship to operate for Princess Cruises, one of the largest cruise lines in the world. Stanley McDonald chartered the Canadian Pacific steamer in 1965. He intended to establish the winter cruising market by operating out of Los Angeles and cruising to Acapulco, Mexico. This is the period when ''Princess Patricia'', which cruised to Alaska, would be laid up. Stanley B. McDonald (October 13, 1920 – November 20, 2014) was the founder of Princess Cruises, one of the largest cruise lines in the World. Career Born in Alberta, Canada and educated at Roosevelt High School in Seattle and the University of Washington, Stan McDonald joined the United States Navy Air Corps. After World War II, Stan McDonald founded ''Air Mac'', a material handling business. The Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Limited was a Scottish shipbuilding company in the Govan area on the Clyde in Glasgow. The 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, or simply Expo 86, was a World's Fair held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from May 2 until October 13, 1986.
