Prince G. Singh
Prince Grenville Singh (born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) is the current Bishop of the Dioceses of Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. He was the eighth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. Biography Singh studied at the Madras Christian College in Tambaram and the Union Biblical Seminary in Pune, India. In 1990 he was ordained priest of the Church of South India. Before going to the United States he served congregations in India. Between 1997 and 2000 he was associate rector at St Peter's Church in Morristown, New Jersey. In 2000 he became rector of St Alban's Church in Oakland, New Jersey. He was elected Bishop of Rochester in February 2008 and consecrated on 31 May 2008 by Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. In February 2022, Bishop Singh resigned from his post as the Bishop of Rochester, to become the Provisional Bishop for the Dioceses of Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, being consecrated by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. Episcopal Diocese Of Western Michigan
The Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan is the Episcopal diocese in the western half of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The diocese was founded in 1874. The diocese is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan and covers a 33-county area that stretches from the Straits of Mackinac southward to the Indiana border and from Lake Michigan to approximately the middle of the state. the website of the diocese describes it as having 15,000 communicants organized in 58 communities of faith, of which 54 are parishes and 4 are seasonal chapels. Union Biblical Seminary (UBS) is a theological seminary founded by Wesleyan and Methodist denominations in Pune, India. UBS started as a Marathi-medium Bible School opened by the Free Methodist Church and was finally established in 1953 and initially located in Yavatmal, before relocating to Pune in 1983. It is affiliated with the Senate of Serampore College (University). It is the largest seminary under Wesleyan-Holiness movement in India. The seminary is famous for contextualising theology to Indian post-colonial context and in promoting New Perspective on Paul, Evangelical feminism or egalitarianism, Dalit theology and progressive Wesleyan viewpoint. Katharine Jefferts Schori (born March 26, 1954) is the former Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of the United States. Previously elected as the 9th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada, she was the first woman elected as a primate in the Anglican Communion. Jefferts Schori was elected at the 75th General Convention on June 18, 2006, and invested at Washington National Cathedral on November 4, 2006, and continued until November 1, 2015, when Michael Bruce Curry was invested in the position.
