"Pretty Visitors" is a song by British band Arctic Monkeys, featured as the ninth song off of their 2009 album '' Humbug''. It is noted for its organ intro and rapid-fire drums, as well as its enigmatic and quick-spoken lyrics. It was debuted on the Australia and New Zealand legs of the Humbug tour, where lead singer Alex Turner would play a Vox Super Continental Organ; these keyboard duties were then handed down to touring musician John Ashton for the remainder of the tour. The song has become a fan favorite and is frequently played during live performances. The song was originally intended to be the 3rd and final single released for the album, however was switched out for " My Propeller" shortly before release. Arctic Monkeys are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 2002. The group consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jamie Cook (guitar, keyboards), Nick O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). ''Humbug'' is the third studio album by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, first released on 19 August 2009 through the Domino Recording Company. The band started to write new material for the album towards the end of summer 2008, and finished it entirely in spring 2009. Like their previous release, ''Favourite Worst Nightmare'' (2007), ''Humbug'' was released first in Japan, followed by Australia, Brazil, Ireland and Germany, on 21 August 2009. It was then released in the UK on 24 August 2009, in the US the following day and in Greece on 31 August. Wholly recorded in the United States, Arctic Monkeys' worked with American musician Josh Homme, who produced tracks recorded in Los Angeles and the Mojave Desert alongside New York City recordings produced by James Ford. Jamie Cook
Jamie Robert Cook (born 8 July 1985) is an English guitarist and songwriter. He is best known as the guitarist and a founding member of the indie rock band Arctic Monkeys, with whom he has recorded seven studio albums. Arctic Monkeys Jamie Cook attended Ecclesfield Secondary School in Chapeltown, Sheffield. Originally a next door neighbour of fellow band member Alex Turner, Cook and the other band members picked up their respective instruments and formed the Arctic Monkeys in 2002. He is the son of an engineer. Matthew Helders (born 7 May 1986) is an English drummer, vocalist and songwriter. He is best known as a founding member of the indie rock band Arctic Monkeys, with whom he has recorded seven studio albums. In 2015, Helders collaborated with Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Dean Fertita to record Pop's studio album, '' Post Pop Depression'' (2016). Nicholas Edward O'Malley (born 5 July 1985) is an English musician, best known as the bass guitarist and backing vocalist of English band Arctic Monkeys. Alexander David Turner (born 6 January 1986) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is well known as the frontman and principal songwriter of the rock band Arctic Monkeys, with whom he has released seven albums. He has also recorded with his side project involving Miles Kane, as the Last Shadow Puppets and also as a solo artist. The Vox Continental is a transistorised combo organ that was manufactured between 1962 and 1971 by the British musical equipment manufacturer Vox. "My Propeller" is a song by the English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys. It was released as the third single from the band's third studio album ''Humbug'', as announced on 1 February 2010. Released on 22 March 2010, the single follows its two predecessors from ''Humbug'', "Crying Lightning" and "Cornerstone", with the 10" vinyl being sold exclusively at Oxfam charity stores. The 10" version of the single features three new B-sides, with the 7" bringing one new B-side. The video for the single was released on 18 March. Slide Guitar
Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice.
